Company Visit
Management students learned about teamwork during our first company visit to Chromavis, in Vaiano Cremasco, on 10 October. The company is part of the Fareva group, it has 129 million euros in proceeds and 852 employees, and it works in B2B in the cosmetics industry. Second in Italy after Intercos, it supplies the most well-known cosmetic brands, including L’Oréal, Dior, Kiko and Sephora. The company operates in the following businesses: special powders (26 production lines for 59 million pieces per year); emulsions (17 production lines and 31 million pieces per year); polishes (32 production lines, 130 million bottles and 4000 bulk per year); generic powders (39 production lines and 24 million pieces per year). In addition to Italy, the company also has factories and R&D centers in various areas around the globe including France, Poland, Brazil and the United States.
In this sector, research is very important in order to respond to a changing market that craves innovation. This is why Chromavis management aims not to “keep up with the times,” but to anticipate them, as happens with the fashion sector. How can trends be predicted? The world is observed, trying to get to know people inside and out in order to anticipate their preferences and choices.
At Chromavis, we learned about the importance of beauty. The main consumers that the sector focuses on are women and women are generally more attracted to “beautiful things.” Avant-garde make-up formulas and mixes are often not necessary to make an impression on consumers, but rather more attention to detail. So the classic vial of nail polish might become an inkpot or a Louboutin heel. An object that women generally have in abundance in every possible shade is thus reevaluated, by simply focusing on original packaging. It’s not always necessary to invent the impossible to be successful, but in today’s world, it may be more important to observe our surroundings with new eyes, noticing the nuances that we didn’t notice before and deriving inspiration from it.
Chromavis is inspired by art and beauty for its creations, but it wouldn't be possible for them to achieve their ambitious goals without teamwork. The company is not only the management. It starts there to then develop in the hands of those people who put into practice what started out as just an idea, using the same joy and passion as the management.
It was extremely interesting for us students to wear a cap, mask and smock in order to enter the company’s true pulse, the factory, an emblem of collaboration and teamwork.
The smallest objects we own should never be taken for granted because behind that eye shadow we use in front of the mirror absent-mindedly every day, there’s a process and there are people who make small but indispensable contributions.
