Classes will be made up of:
- 85 slots for each Master of Science class*;
- 80 slots for "Transformative Sustainability";
- 50 slots for "Cyber Risk Strategy and Governance";
- 85 slots for "Data Science and Business Analytics";
- 65 slots for "IM Global Experience";
- 65 slots for "Finance Global Experience"
- 60 slots for "Politics and Policy Analysis";
- 65 slots for "Artificial Intelligence".
- 50 slots for MA in "Global Law for Organizations, Business Enterprises and Institutions".
Approximately 65% of the total available spots are made available to Bocconi applicants and, in particular, up to a maximum of 60% of available spots in the I round.
The 6 class groups of International Management (IM Concentrations, IM CEMS MIM, IM Asia - China MIM, and IM Asia - DD Bocconi-ESSEC, IM DD ESSEC Luxury) include a total of 480 slots, of which 20 are reserved for IM Asia - China MIM, 25 for IM Asia - DD Bocconi-ESSEC, 20 for IM DD ESSEC Luxury, and 65 for IM CEMS MIM.
With an aim towards fostering greater diversity and inclusion in the classroom, students in IM CEMS MIM, IM Asia, and IM Concentrations may attend first-year classes with students from other IM programs.
Regarding the IM Global Experience and Finance Global Experience, the goal is to form classes that are as diverse as possible in terms of nationality, gender, and background. These factors may influence the admission decisions. As a result, the Directors will review candidates' profiles during the selection process. Therefore, Bocconi applicants will not be assigned the usual 65% of places available, normally allocated to Bocconi students in MSc programs. Both programs contribute to Bocconi University's standing in international rankings.
Applicants to the Master’s Degree in Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence in Health Sciences (DAIHS) are required to complete a specific application on the Humanitas University web portal. Applications will be carefully examined by a joint committee of representatives from Humanitas University and Bocconi University.
The admissions rounds are open to graduating applicants and applicants who have already graduated who complete their Bachelor of Science program by October 2026. In particular:
- 1st round: open to all Bocconi applicants who have at least 90 credits recorded on their transcript by 31 July 2025 (without regard to GPA), or BSc graduates.
- 2nd round: open to all Bocconi applicants who have at least 110 credits recorded on their transcript by 30 April 2026 (without regard to GPA), or BSc graduates.
This session is also open to students who applied during the first session but were either not admitted, did not enroll, or withdrew after being admitted.
For both admission rounds, the ranking is determined based on the same evaluation elements:
- Educational activities (exams) with grades expressed in thirtieths and corresponding credits, as outlined in the program structure, provided they have been passed and recorded in the academic transcript by the deadline. For the purposes of meeting the credit requirement to participate in the round, additional activities such as internships, seminars, eligibility/tests, and any supernumerary activities already recorded in the transcript will also be considered.
- Exams taken abroad during an Exchange Program will be evaluated only if recorded in the study plan by the deadline, with a registration date and a grade expressed in thirtieths.
- The applicant’s "in corso" status (i.e., regular student status) will also be taken into account.
All the above elements will contribute to the determination of the admission ranking.
Calculation of the ranking score
The final ranking score is composed of the algebraic sum of the following elements:
- The weighted grade point average (GPA) is converted to a score out of 110.
For applicants who have already graduated, this corresponds to the weighted average of all exams included in the study plan (note: this does not consider the graduation grade).
In the case of exams composed of multiple modules, each module will be considered separately in the GPA calculation, not the overall grade. - 1 point out of 110 is awarded to applicants with "in corso" status, if the relevant criteria are met (see paragraph below).
-
For “in corso” applicants: 0.05 points out of 110 will be added for each additional credit exceeding the minimum required to apply. This includes credits from educational activities (exams), internships, seminars, eligibility/tests, and any other additional activities already recorded in the transcript by the deadline.
(For example: if an "in corso" student applies in the first round with 95 recorded credits, they will receive 0.05 × 5 = 0.25 points out of 110.)
Slots allocation
Points in the ranking are assigned based on the criteria above. Places are allocated in descending order of ranking, starting from the applicant with the highest score.
Admission is granted to the applicant’s first-choice Master's program, provided that places are still available. If the first-choice program is full, the system will automatically consider the applicant’s second, third, fourth, or fifth choice, in order, until all available places are filled.
The date of application submission has no impact on the outcome of the selection. All applications will be evaluated and ranked only after the application period has closed.
For students who changed their Bachelor program during their undergraduate studies at Bocconi, the academic record presented at the time of application will be considered. Any exams that were not validated during the program change process cannot be taken into account.
Further elements of evaluation
For the IM Asia – CHINA MIM, IM CEMS MIM, IM Asia DD Bocconi–ESSEC, and IM Concentration – DD ESSEC Luxury Management programs, given the strong motivational component of these courses, a specific evaluation by the Program Director is required.
As part of the application process for these programs, as well as for Artificial Intelligence and the MA in Global Law for Organizations, Business Enterprises and Institutions, candidates are required to complete the "qualitative" sections of the application. These include a brief personal introduction, specific motivations for each selected program, relevant professional and international experiences, as well as language and IT skills. In addition, for all of the above-mentioned programs - except for Artificial Intelligence - applicants must also record a video interview, which is an integral part of the selection process.
The IM Global Experience and Finance Global Experience programs require a dedicated application, to be submitted within two specific admission rounds. These programs are evaluated independently from the other Master of Science programs. For these applications as well, completing the qualitative sections and recording a video interview is mandatory, as they are essential components of the selection process.
Joint Degree Programs with Politecnico di Milano
The Master of Science programs Cyber Risk Strategy and Governance and Transformative Sustainability, developed in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano (PoliMi), are also available among the application choices. Applicants will be evaluated by a Joint Committee composed of faculty members from both Bocconi and PoliMi. As part of the application, candidates must provide qualitative information: a brief personal statement, specific motivations, relevant professional and international experiences, and language and IT skills.
Please note:
- BIEM students enrolled in the Peking–Bocconi Double Degree program will be considered "in corso" if their first year of enrollment was AY 2022–23. Only educational activities completed during the first two years at Bocconi will be considered. Activities taken at Peking University will not be taken into account.
- WBB students will be considered "in corso" if their first year of enrollment was AY 2022–23. Activities registered during the first three years of the BSc program will be considered for evaluation purposes.
For further information or assistance, please contact the Admissions Office via B in Touch.
Students are considered “in corso” for the purposes of admission to Master of Science programs if they are enrolled in their third year in the 2025-26 AY and:
- Have enrolled for the first time in the university system in the 2023-2024 a.y. at Bocconi University; or
- Have enrolled for the first time in the university system in the 2023-2024 a.y. at another University and enrolled at Bocconi in their second year in the 2023-2024 a.y. (e.g., students transferring from another University WITH recognition at Bocconi of credits acquired during the previous university experience); or
- Have enrolled for the first time in the university system on a date before the 2023-2024 a.y. at Bocconi University, or at another University, on condition that in the 2023-2024 a.y. they started the Bocconi career, considered for the evaluation to the MSc Programs, and DID NOT benefit from the recognition of credits from their previous university career.
Any course, eligibility, internship, seminar, or other activity expressed in credits that are carried over into the Bocconi career, which the applicant submits during admission, even if an additional course, is considered credit recognition from the previous university career.
For example:- Students who transferred from another University enrolled in their first year at Bocconi in the 2023-24 a.y. WITHOUT recognition at Bocconi of credits acquired previously;
- Students with a first-level degree completed at another University who then enrolled at Bocconi in their first year in the 2023-24 AY WITHOUT requesting credit recognition.
PLEASE NOTE: The status of "in corso" student for the purposes of admission to the Master of Science programs does not necessarily coincide with the student’s status of “in corso” as defined by the administrative enrollment procedures for Bachelor of Science students.
For applications WITHOUT the status “in corso” student, the following will be allocated:
- 0 points out of 110 for students not yet graduated at the time of application, who enrolled for the first time in any university degree program (Bocconi and non) in the 2022-2023 a.y.;
- 0 points out of 110 for applicants who have already graduated from Bocconi within 3 or 4 academic years from their first year of enrollment in the university system (Bocconi or non-Bocconi);
- -1 point out of 110 for students not yet graduated at the time of application, who enrolled for the first time in any university degree program (Bocconi and non) in the 2021-2022 a.y. For each year of enrollment in the university system prior to the 2021-2022 a.y., a further point will be deducted;
- -1 point out of 110 for applicants graduating from Bocconi in 5 years after their first year of enrollment in the university system (Bocconi or non-Bocconi). For each year of enrollment in the university system after the fifth year, another point will be deducted.
