Under the leadership of SGH Warsaw School of Economics, CIVICA partners are working towards developing a framework to foster students’ engagement within the CIVICA alliance while strengthening their sense of belonging and shared identity, deeply rooted in European values and heritage.

The Student Engagement Fund (SEF) is introduced as one of the initiatives facilitating bridge-building between nations, cultures, and languages: the SEF is a mini-grant funding scheme aimed at supporting student-led joint initiatives within the CIVICA alliance. It aims to foster cross-campus collaboration among students and registered student associations from different disciplines and backgrounds in tackling the important issues facing Europe today, and to further enhance the students’ experience within the alliance.

FuturEu is a student competition organized by Hertie School (Berlin) and is open to all students and PhD researchers enrolled at a CIVICA partner university.

This initiative provides participants with a platform to actively find, propose and debate solutions on the EU of tomorrow. The competition bridges the gap between young people’s voices and opinions on one hand and public discourse and academic research on the other.
The 2025 edition is themed "Now or Never: Enhancing the Future of EU Competitiveness” and consists of two rounds:

  1. Written round: all registered teams submit a “thread” describing their policy idea (up to 250 words). The futurEU team will then pre-select the best teams who are then invited to submit a full policy memo of up to 1500 words.
  2. Oral round: the teams with the 8 best policy memos will be invited to the semi-finals in Berlin, where they present their ideas.

Individual Registration by 07/01/2025: https://forms.gle/CvYyAoCoCXkfjViYA

The European Student Assembly (ESA) is the main initiative of EUC Voices' Erasmus+ project. It is an annual event which each year gathers more than 230 students from the European Universities Alliances (EUAs) to debate, first online and then onsite, issues that are central to students in Europe, draft policy recommendations on the future of Europe and advocate for them among stakeholders and decision-makers. The fourth edition of the European Student Assembly (#ESA25) will culminate in a deliberative Assembly gathering at the European Parliament in Strasbourg from 26 to 28 May 2025.

How it works:

  • From February to May 2025: the selected students will work remotely with other members of the same panel to deepen their understanding of their topic (chosen from a pool of 8 panels related to the future of Europe and essential for students).
  • From 26 to 28 May 2025: participating students will meet in person in Strasbourg in the very premises of the European Parliament to discuss and finalize their recommendations with members of their panel. They will also hear from other panels' discussions and debate. Finally, they will vote on all policy recommendations prepared in a plenary session and participate to dissemination activities afterwards.
  • After the assembly: students will continue to work in team for the advocacy and dissemination of their proposals. Willing students will have the opportunity to meet with NGOs, Members of the European Parliament and representatives from the European Commission
