You can borrow less than the maximum amount indicated in the award letter and can request more loan funds later if you need to, provided that your request comes to the office before the second disbursement.
If your application has been correctly submitted, Bocconi University will start originating your loan.
Please find a timeline that might help you understand when the first installment of your loan will be disbursed:
- The Fees, Funding and Housing Office shall consolidate all requests submitted within each calendar month.
- Should the Office identify errors or irregularities in the completion of the “US Direct Loans 2025–2026” Application, it shall notify the student through specific communications within the application itself.
- The initial disbursement will occur approximately 40 to 50 days after the submission of the "US Direct Loans 2025-2026" application. Please note that this process is automatic; once initiated, it cannot be postponed or anticipated in any way.
- The second disbursement will be made in accordance with the deadline specified in this document.
Generally, the loan shall cover one full academic year, and Bocconi University shall disburse the funds in two separate installments. The first disbursement shall be applied towards the tuition installments that fall due prior to the second loan disbursement being received.
Should the student request an amount insufficient to cover all installments falling due between the first and the second disbursement, it shall remain the sole responsibility of the student to ensure timely payment of tuition fees. The existence of a loan does not in any way suspend or defer the obligation to meet tuition deadlines.
If, instead, any additional loan funds remain for each loan disbursement, they will be returned to you via bank transfer to a European bank account.
PLEASE NOTE
You must remain enrolled and inform the Fees, Funding and Housing Office of any changes to your enrollment status as this directly affects your loan entitlement.
Each subsequent disbursement is also subject to maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
