Barclays Teatro Nazionale

Teatro Nazionale was founded in 1922 thanks to Mauro Rota. The main concept was to build a cultural point in an area located outside the center. Inaugurated in 1924 with the La cena delle beffe by Sem Benelli, the theater became an important place for the people from Milan due to its operas, reviews, operettas and variety shows. After the war, the founder was forced to turn the theater into a cinema.

After a wonderful renovation in 1979, the theater restarted the activity for which it was created by its founder. Over the years, many actors achieved success in Italy through the theater, including Erminio Macario, Carlo Dapporto, Totò, Carlo Campanini and Ugo Tognazzi.

After hosting the biggest Italian actors and shows, the theater was chosen by Stage Entertainment as the perfect location for its musicals. An intense renovation ended in 2009, completed by the architect and designer Piero Lissoni, transforming Teatro Nazionale into the most modern theater in Italy. The scenery tower was expanded, the number of seats increased to 1,500 and the excellent acoustics make this theater one of the best in Italy, thus earning the title “the Italian temple for musicals”.
