Supplementary Activities

The Language Center offers free courses for Bocconi students, including:

  • Language and culture courses
  • Introductory language courses
  • Courses to prepare for international certifications, available for both curricular and extracurricular languages
  • Workshops aimed at enhancing students’ academic and professional skills in English (Soft Skills Workshops)
  • A short online course covering the basics of the Italian language (Italian Survival Course)

Enrollment

Courses are open to a limited number of Bocconi students of all Programs, University specialized Masters, SDA Masters and PhDs, except for the "Italian Survival Course" online, which is open to first-year students (BSc, MSc, Masters) and Double Degree Incoming students with unlimited places available.

Students can enroll exclusively through the you@B Diary, in the “sign-up for various activities” box. Before registering, students are strongly advised to carefully read the complete course calendar to avoid possible overlaps with other classes or activities.

Please note that cancellations can only be made through the yoU@B Student Diary within (and not after) the deadline indicated for the registration. No other type of cancellation request will be accepted.

Students who have not properly completed the registration process cannot be admitted to the courses.

Available seats

Details for each course are published online on the corresponding page (“Course details and calendar”). Enrollment will be confirmed through a message in the yoU@B Diary a few days before the course begins.

Attending and obtaining the open badge

Courses do not grant academic credits or additional points for graduation. There is no final exam.

Students who attend at least 75% of the academic hours of the course * receive an Open Badge of Attendance approximately 30 days after the course ends.

Attendance is recorded at the beginning of each class through a numeric code provided by the instructor. The code is valid for 10 minutes only. Any attendance recorded after this time will not be considered valid and will count as an absence. Students are not allowed to leave the classroom before the end of the lesson. Any improper conduct will be sanctioned in accordance with the Università Bocconi Honor Code.

*Exception: the Italian Survival Course (delivered online in asynchronous mode) does not include attendance tracking and therefore does not issue an Open Badge of Attendance.

Blacklist

If a student does not attend at least 25% of the academic hours of the course*, he/she will be blacklisted. This will result in the exclusion from the extracurricular courses organized by the Language Center for both the current and the following semester.

Being blacklisted twice leads to be permanently excluded from Language Center supplementary activities.

*Exception: there is no blacklist for the "Italian Survival Course".
