Educational objectives

The Bachelor of Science in Management for the Arts and Cultures has the following educational objectives:

  • Provide solid, multidisciplinary preparation in business, economics, mathematics and statistics, computer science, comparative legal studies, and the humanities, enabling students to critically interpret the economic, regulatory and cultural contexts in which organizations operate, with particular attention to the impact of cognitive biases and cultural differences across different areas of application.
  • Characterize the program by providing an integrated approach that combines business and management disciplines with the humanities, in order to ensure a solid preparation in theories, models, languages and techniques specific to managerial studies; knowledge of specific artistic languages and expressive media; and awareness of the interactions between the latter and the cultural, social and political contexts in which they are produced and operate. Overall, this multidisciplinary program aims to enhance students’ ability to analyze, contextualize and critically assess historical and contemporary cultural phenomena, and to equip graduates with the intellectual, analytical and critical tools needed to address emerging challenges in the relevant sectors, while being aware of the central role of culture in building active, inclusive and participatory civic communities.
  • Promote applied skills, for the critical analysis of the assumptions and value premises underlying economic and managerial theories; to foster the acquisition of operational competences, as well as analytical and relational skills essential for working in contexts characterized by high levels of innovation, discontinuity and systemic complexity (e.g. artistic production and creative industries; cultural organizations and institutions; culture-led territorial development; fashion and tourism supply chains, etc.), and in environments marked by the presence of stakeholders with diverse interests, expectations, and professional and cultural backgrounds (e.g. public bodies and private organizations; for-profit and non-profit sectors; etc.). Within this framework, the program aims to shape graduates capable of managing decision-making and project development processes in multicultural environments, promoting mediation skills and a strategic outlook, and operating with sensitivity to local contexts as well as to the challenges and transformations driven by processes of globalization and productive integration.
  • Develop the ability to apply knowledge through a structured yet flexible set of teaching and learning practices aimed at fostering a reflective and self-aware learning community. The program emphasizes: structured forms of dialogue, critical discussion, and the co-construction of knowledge, which foster not only the transmission and sharing of content, but also the autonomous and collaborative development of knowledge; technology-based teaching and learning methods that encourage interaction (between students and instructors, as well as among students), engagement and the development of problem-setting and problem-solving skills, in line with a learning-by-doing approach;
  • Encourage students to responsibly assess the consequences of their decisions in professional contexts.
  • Promote linguistic and communication skills, ensuring competence in at least one European Union language and the ability to communicate effectively in diverse professional contexts.
