Program Structure

The Master of Quantitative Finance and Risk Management is entirely taught in English by a highly qualified faculty, composed of professors and researchers from Bocconi University and other leading universities, alongside experienced professionals from the private sector.

The program lasts 12 months full-time and is structured into 9 months of in-person classes and 3 months dedicated to a final work or internship. The learning experience combines a strong theoretical foundation with a practical, hands-on approach, featuring structured lectures, case studies, guest speakers and project works.

To earn the Specialized Master Diploma, participants must successfully complete 18 courses - including fundamentals, core courses and electives - along with an individual final work (made by a research paper or an internship report). The fundamentals and core courses are mandatory and attended by all students, while the electives are chosen from a range of optional courses, allowing participants to tailor their learning experience according to their specific interests and career goals.

  • 7 fundamentals (I term);
  • 5 core courses (II term);
  • 6 electives, from a list of about 15 courses (III term);
  • individual project (made by a research paper or internship report)

The first term (Fundamentals) covers mainly introductory courses designed to align the knowledge of students coming from different academic backgrounds and to provide them with the quantitative and financial skills needed to successfully progress through the program. Find out more about the first term courses.

The second term (Core courses) is intended to emphasize different fields of finance, combining quantitative and risk management subjects. The focus is on the technical aspects of asset pricing and hedging while also exploring the institutional, organizational and regulatory framework of modern finance. Find out more about the second term courses.

The third term (Electives) offers a selection of optional courses, each focusing on specific areas. This flexibility allows participants to tailor their learning experience according to their specific interests and career goals. Find out more about the third term courses.

The program concludes with an individual project (made by a research paper or internship report).
