Artificial Intelligence
Overview
Artificial intelligence and machine learning are profoundly transforming the economy, society and everyday life. From the automation of production processes to the creation of new digital services — and the upcoming revolutions in biotechnology, medicine and the green transition — the potential is immense.
This Master of Science program is designed for students with a strong passion for mathematics, computer science and the development of intelligent systems. It combines solid theoretical training with hands-on exploration of the main applications of AI and machine learning. You will study advanced methods for designing intelligent systems, diving deep into subjects such as applied mathematics, software engineering, deep learning, natural language processing and image processing.
After admission, you will choose between two highly qualified tracks, the Milan Track and the Turin Track. Both are designed with one goal in common, to shape the future leaders of AI.
Milan Track: You will complete most or all of the program in Milan, attending courses taught by Bocconi faculty and professors from the Department of Computing Sciences. You will collaborate closely with your classmates and a network of academics and professionals, building strong relationships and skills that will support your career.
Turin Track: After a common first year in Milan, you will complete the second semester of your second year in Turin, in collaboration with the Collegio Carlo Alberto. This track also includes an internship at the Italian Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence for Industrial Impact (AI4I), a center of excellence focused on applying AI in real-world industrial contexts.
Each track will equip you with:
- a solid foundation in mathematics, modeling and computational sciences
- the ability to abstract and tackle complex real-world problems
- the technical skills to design and develop advanced software systems using deep learning, reinforcement learning and other cutting-edge AI methodologies
Students in both tracks also have the opportunity to apply to an Exchange program. This will allow you to study abroad for one term at a top partner university, broadening your knowledge and gaining exposure to a unique multicultural environment.
In addition, you will gain broad knowledge and an experience of computing beyond machine learning, as well as the interdisciplinary awareness needed to apply computer science to other fields, such as the life sciences. You will also be guided in developing an understanding of important ethical issues in computing.
This computer science degree brings a strong methodological approach to the training of professionals who will have immediately applicable real-world skills and a competitive profile, particularly if they choose to continue their studies with a PhD. Upon graduation, students will have the knowledge and skills to work as artificial intelligence specialists (intelligent systems specialists or machine learning engineers) to build advanced systems used in manufacturing, the service sector, the public sector, finance, or the health and medical sciences.
Through a collaboration with Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, students may access specific forms of funding that include 60% and 100% tuition waivers and scholarships supporting the academic experience in Turin.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly shaping the way we interact with technology every day. As AI continues to evolve at an incredible pace, there has never been a better time to become a part of this transformative field.
This MSc program offers a multidisciplinary approach to the science and technology behind modern AI. Students will gain a solid understanding of the core principles that drive AI development and learn how to design and build advanced AI systems. It is designed to equip students with not only cutting-edge technical skills but also a deep understanding of the fundamental sciences that underpin AI innovation. The goal is to train future AI makers, and not just AI users.
With access to state-of-the-art laboratories, research centers and a vast network of industry connections, both in the Milan Track and the Turin Track, students will be supported every step of the way by a distinguished faculty, recruited from top institutions worldwide. This ensures a world-class education in a field that will play a crucial role in the future of society.
