Crisis support
The Counseling Service is not an emergency service.
If you don't know where to turn in an emergency or out of hours, here are a number of options.
Emergency numbers
- 112: In case of a medical or psychological emergency, you can contact this number 24 hours a day, including to request an ambulance.
- 1522: In cases of perceived violence, you can contact this number free of charge and 24h/24. Specialized operators will take requests for help and support from victims of violence and stalking ("You are not alone")
Services
- In case of a medical or psychological emergency, you can go to your local hospital emergency room free of charge without an appointment.
- To begin a course of psychological treatment, the city's Family Counseling Centers and the psychosocial centers (CPS) of the Hospitals are at your disposal; in some cases, direct access does not even require a prescription from your general practitioner.
- In cases of perceived violence, in addition to contacting the 1522 number free of charge, in major Italian cities you can also access the Anti-Violence Centers in person, where you will find trained and specialized staff for psychological help interviews, not only in Italian.
