US Direct Loans SAP Policy

In order to continue
receiving federal student aid you need to make satisfactory academic progress. 

Your position will be checked before
authorizing the second disbursement of your federal loan (approximately
in March) and before any subsequent disbursements.

Students that receive Title IV funds are informed via email before the
disbursement is processed about his/her own position as far as SAP requirements
are concerned.

The following SAP policy applies to Bachelor and Master of Science students starting from AY 2018/2019:

• This policy does not specify a minimum required GPA as students must get at least a pass grade (18/30 out of 30/30) to earn the credits of the course. If a student gets a lower grade, he/she will have to retake the exam in order to earn the related credits.
  
  
• Bocconi calculates the pace at which the student is progressing by dividing the cumulative number of credits the student has in his/her study plan for that academic year.
  
  

• In order to meet SAP requirements, the student must earn at least 67% of the maximum number of credits envisaged in the study plan.
  
  

• Given that all failed exams must be retaken and students do not get
  credits until they get a pass grade (18/30) this policy cannot consider course incompletes, withdrawals, or repetitions, because this is not allowed.
  If a student participates at classes but does not take the exam, the
  related credits count only as attempted credits, and not as earned ones.
  If a student withdraws from an exam, the related credits count only as
  attempted credits, and not as earned ones.
  If a student receives a mark higher than 18/30, he/she cannot repeat
  that exam.
  Credits earned in another institution that are accepted toward the student's educational
  program and registered in his/her position count as both maximum number and completed credits.

  
  
  

• At the
  time of each evaluation, a student who has not achieved the required number of credits, or who is not successfully completing his or her educational program
  at the required pace, is no longer eligible to receive assistance under the
  Title IV, HEA programs. However,
  since Bocconi evaluate SAP at the end of each
  payment period, the student may be placed
  on financial aid warning.
  
  
• If a student is not making SAP according to the school's policy at the
  end of each payment period, the school's policy may (for the payment period
  following the payment period in which the student did not make SAP) - place the
  student on financial aid warning, and disburse Title IV HEA program funds to
  the student.
  
  
  
• If a student is placed on financial aid warning he/she may continue to
  receive assistance under the Title IV, HEA programs for one payment period
  despite a determination that the student is not making SAP. During the next
  evaluation, at the beginning of the following payment period, the student must
  have caught up with SAP requirements in order to qualify for further Title IV
  funds otherwise he/she is no more eligible to receive Direct Loan funds.
