The Museo del Novecento: works and masterpieces of a century
IN COLLABORATION WITH NEIADE TOUR & EVENTS
The destination of this guided tour is the “Palazzo dell’Arengario”, a home with a perfect architecture for works and masterpieces of the 20th century, in the collections of the Museo del Novecento, which has had Piazza Duomo as its address since December 2010. The itinerary starts from the superb spiral staircase that welcomes visitors at the entrance. The itinerary starts from afar, with a work that represents a break with the past, the Fourth Estate by Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo: the extremely revolutionary nature of this composition, more in the content – it is a strike by workers – than in the divisionist technique, makes it a symbol of 20th century society.
Boredom has no place from here on. Here are the revolutionary movements and the avant-gardes of the 20th century: Futurism, with Giacomo Balla and Umberto Boccioni, the Metaphysics of Giorgio De Chirico and Alberto Savinio, the Spatialism of Lucio Fontana, the Forma Group, the Transavantgarde, Kinetic Art and Arte Povera. It is a never-ending sequence of colour, power, experimentation, contradictions, rifts and new materials. There is nothing better than a guided tour in order not to “get lost” and enjoy this journey through a century of contemporary art!
