Milan
Milan is a cosmopolitan and modern city that combines the best of Italy’s past and present, while keeping a sharp eye on the future. Due to its geographical position, it represents a gateway to Europe and is close to a multitude of other interesting Italian cities and attractions.
It is rich in culture and artistic and historical monuments, such as the world-renowned La Scala opera house, the huge gothic Cathedral Duomo, the medieval Castello Sforzesco and the famous Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper.
Milan is definitely the main financial, industrial and commercial center of Italy, and home to Italy’s biggest banks and insurers, as well as the Italian Stock Exchange. Nonetheless, it is best known as “The Fashion Capital of the World”. Other standout sectors include furniture and design. Indeed, Milan hosts the most important event in the world related to design, the “Fuorisalone”, the set of events and exhibitions around the city of Milan during the “Salone Internazionale del Mobile” (In April).
In addition, Milan and the Lombardy Region boast a very broad-based mix of industries that includes technology, engineering, manufacturing, chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
