Bocconi University is committed to welcoming you into an environment designed to make Milan your second home: the university residences offer well-maintained spaces, practical services, and an international community that allows you to fully enjoy the university experience. Living in a residence means having the opportunity to share moments of study and leisure with students from all over the world, building relationships that enrich your personal and academic journey. It is a stimulating experience, but one that requires a willingness to engage and share: living together means respecting others, accepting compromises, and adapting your habits for the good of the group. In this way, you will develop valuable transferable skills (flexibility, mediation skills, team spirit) that will be useful not only during your years of study but also in your future career.
Before making this choice, consider whether this lifestyle aligns with your needs and well-being: it is the foundation for successfully navigating the university journey that awaits you.

When your accommodation is assigned, you will be informed of the type of room you have been assigned.
The bedrooms at Bocconi-owned residences are all single rooms and are furnished with a bed, bedside table, desk, and wardrobe.
The bathroom will be as follows, depending on the type of room:
- single room with private bathroom: private for exclusive use
- studio apartment: private for exclusive use
- single room with shared bathroom: shared with only one student of the same gender
- single room in a 2-bedroom apartment: shared with only one student of the same gender
- single room in a 4-bedroom apartment: shared with only one student of the same gender
As for the kitchen, here is how it is provided for each type of room:
- single room with private bathroom: has access to a shared kitchen located on the same floor, which serves approximately 15-20 students
- single room with shared bathroom: has access to a shared kitchen located on the same floor, which serves approximately 15-20 students
- Studio apartment: has a private kitchenette located inside the apartment.
- Single room in a 2-bedroom apartment: has a private kitchen, which is shared only with another bedroom. In this case, the room is shared with a student of the same gender.
- Single room in a 4-bedroom apartment: has a private kitchen, which is shared only with 3 other bedrooms. Please note that in this case, sharing may be between 4 students of the same gender, but also between students of the opposite gender: it is possible that 4-room apartments may be assigned to 2 males and 2 females.
When living in residence, you will always have access to a kitchen where you can prepare your meals: it may be inside your apartment or shared on your floor, depending on the type of accommodation you have booked.
All kitchens in Bocconi residences are equipped with cooking stoves, so you can only use pots and pans marked with the relevant symbol. Plates, glasses, and other kitchenware are not provided: you can decide to bring them from home before you arrive, although we suggest you wait until you arrive at the residence so that you can organize sharing the purchase or use of these items with your roommates. Near the residences, you will find supermarkets and other well-stocked stores where you can buy everything you need, either for yourself or to share.
To ensure a positive experience for everyone, it is essential that all guests cooperate in leaving the kitchen tidy and clean after each use: tidying and cleaning must be carried out by each guest after preparing their meal. The cleaning service included in the fee certainly covers the kitchens, but the staff will not be able to complete it properly if the kitchens are found cluttered with dirty dishes and pots.
All residences have common areas where you can spend your free time, focus on your studies, or relax with your friends. In particular, you will find:
- study room: dedicated to individual or group study and reserved for residence guests,
- games room: a recreation area designed in collaboration with student representatives for socializing with other residence guests,
- relaxation room: where you can do bodyweight exercises or relax after a long day of studying.
All Bocconi Residences and campus buildings are equipped with drinking water dispensers. Check this page to see where they are located and commit to reducing plastic consumption. In addition, in the break areas of the residences, you will find vending machines selling sweet and savory snacks, coffee machines, and even vending machines selling personal care products.
All residences have a laundry area with automatic washing machines and dryers. Each wash and dry cycle is subject to a fee, based on the rates displayed in the laundry rooms of each residence. Ironing boards and irons are not provided.
All Bocconi Residences offer a 24-hour reception desk service. After checking in and settling into your accommodation, you can also receive mail at the reception.
The common areas of the apartments, bathrooms, and bedrooms are cleaned once a week. The cleaning service for the common areas of the Residence is daily. As a rule, rooms and apartments are cleaned by floor: upon arrival, check which day your accommodation will be cleaned. In particular, the following services are provided: cleaning of bathrooms, cleaning of the kitchen and living area, change of linen (sheets and towels), and bed making. You will be provided with: a blanket, sheets, and face towels. If you prefer, you can bring your own linens, which you will need to wash/change yourself. Please note that staff will only clean the accommodation if it is tidy.
If you require technical maintenance in your accommodation, you must submit a request via the dedicated portal by scanning the QR codes located in each room. Submitting the request will allow the residence management to intervene promptly to resolve the problem you have encountered, replacing any defective parts or carrying out all necessary checks with the relevant technicians. Please note that the residence management and Bocconi University staff will be able to access your accommodation even in your absence in case of necessity or urgency.
All utilities (electricity, heating/air conditioning, water) are included in the accommodation fee, as is WiFi connection, which is guaranteed in all common areas and rooms. Please refer to Article 16 of the Residence Regulations and the Addendum for some important notes on the use of the connection.
Bocconi University is committed to ensuring the health and safety of all its students, both on campus and in its residences, in order to prevent accidents and minimize all risks associated with university life.
In order to live in the residences, it is essential to be aware of the potential risks that may arise from the improper use of the facilities and equipment provided in the building or owned by guests. The cooperation of all guests is essential to prevent dangers arising from improper behavior (inappropriate use of kitchens, use of electrical appliances or tools that are not provided and are potentially dangerous, smoking outside of designated areas).
When it comes to safety in the residence, there are many topics to address, such as:
- Fire risk
- Evacuation rules
- Accidents in the apartment
- What to do in case of accident/illness
- What to do in case of flooding
Check all the safety rules and regulations in the residence and if you have any doubts, contact the manager.
Bocconi has set up a medical center on campus, a medical clinic on the first floor of the building at Piazza Sraffa 11. The medical center will primarily serve the needs of non-residents of Milan and those who have difficulty accessing their own primary care physician, with the following important notes:
- The medical center is NOT an emergency service; in case of emergency, always call the European emergency number 112 or the Bocconi emergency number +39 0258362121, which will activate the ambulance service if necessary.
- This is a first-level internal medicine service that can provide medical examinations with reports, medication, and prescriptions (however, it CANNOT issue prescriptions covered by the National Health Service, as by law this can only be done by your family doctor).
- This service is only available to members of the Bocconi community and cannot be extended to others (family members and acquaintances).
Schedules, procedures, and contact information are available in the yoU@B Agenda in the Health and Safety widget and on the Intranet. For further information, please contact hse@unibocconi.it.
Live your residence in GREEN mode
We care about respecting the environment: less waste, more attention to consumption, and proper waste management. It's up to you to do your part too!
♻️ Separate waste collection
In your room, apartment, and common areas, remember to separate your waste:
- Organic → brown
- Paper/cardboard → white
- Glass → green
- Plastic/metal → yellow
- Non-recyclable → black
If you have any doubts, take a look at the AMSA website: it will only take you 2 minutes.
👉 NB: PCs, smartphones, and small appliances do NOT go in unsorted waste: take them to collection points (recycling centers or CAM).
🚫 Less plastic and paper
- Use the water fountain in the Residence instead of plastic bottles.
- Only print if really necessary.
- Choose recycled materials.
⚡ Be mindful of consumption
- Turn off lights when not in use.
- Do not leave windows open with the heating/AC on.
- Do not waste water.
🏠 Respect the spaces (they are your home!)
- Dispose of waste in the correct bins.
- Clean and tidy up after using the common areas.
- Do not throw food in the sink.
- Keep your room tidy.
- Do not damage furniture or rooms: other students will be here after you!
❗ Important
If the accommodation is found to be in poor condition, the management may:
- Charge you for extra cleaning;
- Give you an official warning;
- In serious cases → expulsion from the Residence, loss of deposit, and referral to the Disciplinary Committee.
The temperature control system in university residences is set in accordance with municipal ordinances governing the correct temperatures to be maintained in buildings, as well as the maximum number of hours allowed for the operation of the systems, with the aim of reducing energy consumption and limiting environmental impact.
The system operates according to a technical protocol implemented in 2017, which regulates the activation of air conditioning systems using standardized parameters, in particular:
for heating, a set point of 19 degrees Celsius is set, which is the temperature indicated as compliant by the Municipality of Milan, with a margin of tolerance of 1-2 degrees.
The activation of air conditioning depends on the outside temperature, which must reach at least 26 degrees Celsius and ONLY if the window is closed (when the window is open, the system switches off automatically).
The system operates during specific time slots, which are shared with guests by the manager of each residence and updated seasonally.
Any malfunction of the systems must be reported promptly using the dedicated QR code: in this way, technicians will immediately check for any faults or the need to replace spare parts in the individual appliances in the rooms (fan coils), or they will be able to carry out all the necessary checks in the event of centralized problems.
The perception of heat/cold is entirely personal, but the settings applied are certainly suitable to ensure everyone's thermal comfort. Bocconi is confident that it can count on the sensitivity of all members of its community to protect environmental sustainability.
Bocconi University has accommodation in each residence designed to accommodate students with disabilities, offering them the opportunity to enjoy their university experience in a communal setting that meets their needs. Students with disabilities who have special accommodation requirements can contact the Fees, Funding and Housing Office, which will work with each student to assess the most suitable accommodation for their specific needs. All issues reported and documentation provided will be treated confidentially and subject to current privacy regulations. In order for the Office to be able to meet the requests received, it is advisable to specify the needs in advance. Interested students are therefore advised to contact the Fees, Funding and Housing Office before submitting their accommodation application.
