Enrolling as a transfer student
Transfer students with credit recognition a.y. 2026-27
The credit recognition process aims to convert credits gained at the student’s university of origin into recognized credits, registered in the Bocconi academic transcript. Credit recognition is based on the analysis of the student’s syllabi carried out by Bocconi course and program’s directors and is usually completed by the end of September/beginning of October.
It is not possible to know the amount of recognized credits in advance.
University years used as diploma integration to reach the 12 years of studies compulsory for the enrollment in a Bachelor cannot be recognized as exam credits.
If you have doubts about the transfer and credit conversion process, consult the FAQs at the bottom of this page.
The deadlines listed below refer to the credit recognition procedure, which applies to the students who are currently enrolled in or have graduated from another university and who have passed the selection process through the round dedicated to them.
Please note that by choosing to take part in the credit recognition procedure, the student acknowledges and accepts the compliance with a series of document submission deadlines. This procedure represents an opportunity to shorten the university career, but it also entails specific requirements and formal steps that must be followed carefully, with no exceptions allowed.
Failure to meet even a single deadline may result in the automatic cancellation of the entire credit recognition procedure, with no refund of the first installment/deposit paid.
Any doubts or issues concerning the credit recognition procedure must be promptly reported to the Admissions Office via email only, indicating in the subject line: TCC_Last name First name.
| Deadline | Documents |
| By the enrollment deadline of your admission application | Admitted students who are currently enrolled in or have graduated from another university must, during the enrollment process, complete the section concerning previous enrollments: for each academic year, they must describe their academic path by providing the required information. |
| By the enrollment deadline of your admission application | Students who wish to request credit recognition will find, inside the enrollment procedure, the instructions to access a dedicated platform. Inside this platform, accessible through their ID and password, theycan specify which exams from the Bocconi study plan they wish to have recognized, based on the exams from their previous university’s study plan (either already completed orplanned to be taken. ATTENTION: if scheduled, they must be completed and officially recorded in the student’s transcriptby July 12 2026), and they can upload the corresponding official course syllabi. |
| By 12 July 2026 |
When re-accessing the platform, it will be necessary to provide an official transcript issued by the home university and complete the request by entering all the details related to the exams for which recognition is being requested, including: grade in thirtieths (if the grade was obtained abroad, the foreign grading system should be entered), date of completion, and credits acquired. Anonymous screenshots or unofficial documents will not be accepted For the students enrolled in/graduated from an Italian University, a Self-Certification of the detailed university academic record (downloadable from the personal page of the university of origin) will be required. |
| By 28 July 2026 |
For the students enrolled in/graduated from a Foreign University, on the dedicated platform, a document certifying that the student is no longer enrolled in that university will be required— an ex-matriculation document — (it is also possible to provide a study suspension document*). For the students enrolled in/graduated from an Italian University, it will be necessary to provide the “domanda di trasferimento” (transfer application) released by the university of origin. |
| By 31 August 2026 | Only students enrolled in an Italian University: the "foglio di congedo" (transfer certificate) issued by the University of origin must be sent via PEC*1 |
* The ex-matriculation document/study suspension document is an official document issued by the university of origin, certifying a student’s decision to permanently end or suspend their educational path for the academic year 2026/2027 at that university. It confirms that the student is no longer enrolled in the university of origin for the academic year 2026/2027.
*1For the students coming from an Italian University, the transfer certificate ("congedo") issued by the University of origin must be provided by 31 August. The transfer certificate ("congedo") is issued only after submitting the “domanda di trasferimento (transfer application) The transfer certificate ("congedo") must be sent to Bocconi University directly by the university of origin by the deadline indicated, by certified email (PEC) to the address: admissionsoffice@unibocconi.legalmail.it
If a PEC address is not available, this should be reported to ufficioammissioni@unibocconi.it
Please remember to check the deadlines for submitting the ex-matriculation or study suspension document / domanda di trasferimento (if from a foreign university) / with the University of origin, since they can vary from Institution to Institution.
The Admissions Office will submit the syllabi you uploaded to the platform, to the faculty members in charge of recognition.
This step can be taken only and exclusively if the student has provided the required documentation (official syllabi) within the deadline set for the submission of the online enrollment.
It is the student’s responsibility to send the official documentation within the indicated timeframe.
Once the courses have begun, it will not be possible to request further evaluations from the Professors or to submit additional documentation.
For each course, the result may be:
- FULL RECOGNITION: the exam is fully recognized and will added to the Bocconi study plan with the grade received at the university of origin. If two exams are requested to be recognized for a single Bocconi exam code, the final grade will be calculated as the weighted average of the two exams.
- PARTIAL RECOGNITION: the exam is partially recognized. The unrecognized part of the exam must be completed during one of the exam sessions scheduled for that course, according to the methods indicated by the faculty member. The recognized part of the exam will contribute to the final grade using a weighted average.
- UNSUCCESSFUL RECOGNITION: the exam is not recognized and must be taken at Bocconi.
The Admissions Office, after collecting feedback from all the Bocconi faculty members on the course syllabi, and after verifying the actual completion of the exams through the official transcript/self-certification of the detailed university academic record (for students coming from an Italian University), will inform the student by the end of July/early August on the year of admission and the overall outcome of their request through the unofficial credit recognition result.
For the students coming from an Italian university, the actual completion of the exams will be further verified through the “foglio di congedo” (transfer certificate) sent by the university of origin.
Around the end of September/beginning of October, (for those coming from an Italian University, not before receiving the foglio di congedo), the Admissions Office will provide the student with the official result of the credit recognition (Delibera).
Once the credit recognition result has been viewed, the student has 5 business days to decide whether to:
- Accept the recognition: all the exams recognized (both partially and fully) will be added to the Bocconi study plan (it will not be possible to choose among the exams and decide to not have some recorded in the study plan);
It should be noted that exams for which credit recognition is not requested, or that have not been recognized, must be taken, as they are part of the study plan, even if they are scheduled for the first year of studies and even if the student is admitted directly to the second year.
- NOT accept the recognition: by not accepting, the student automatically withdraws enrollment at Bocconi University and, at the same time, can submit a request for reimbursement of the advance payment of the first installment.
After 5 working days since the submission of the Delibera,it will no longer be possible in any way to request or obtain a refund.
Students are therefore strongly advised to pay close attention to these deadlines.
Bachelor of Science programs
Considering only 1st- and 2nd-year Bocconi exams, students admitted to a Bachelor of Science program who have obtained the recognition of:
- less than 24 credits: will stay enrolled in the first year of the program;
- 24 credits or more: may choose to stay enrolled in the first year of the program or move to the second year.
For students admitted to a Bachelor of Science program, the maximum number of credits that may be recognized is 90 credits.
Students who accept credit recognition and are re-enrolled in the first year or repeat a year (e.g. enrolls in Bocconi in the second year after having already completed two years elsewhere) may not be considered an "in corso" student for the purposes of future selection processes when applying to Master of Science programs.
It should be noted that if enrolled in the second year, the student may take first-year exams that were not recognized, or for which credit recognition was not requested, starting from the first exam session (October midterms).
Exams that were only partially recognized, instead, can be completed only during the first available general exam session and not during the midterm exams.
As a second-year student, they will not have direct access to first-year materials or classes.
To access the platform, see the materials, and register for first-year exams, the student must submit an explicit request to the department responsible for each course, through the B in Touch tool— but only after signing the Delibera.
Integrated Master of Arts in Law
Considering only 1st- and 2nd-year Bocconi exams, students admitted to the 5-year Integrated Master of Arts in Law program who have obtained the recognition of:
- less than 24 credits: will stay enrolled in the first year of the program;
- between 24 and 89 credits: may choose to stay enrolled in the first year of the program or move to the second year;
- 90 credits or more: may choose to move to the third year.
For students admitted to the Integrated Master of Arts in Law program, the maximum number of credits that may be recognized is 150 credits.
It should be noted that if enrolled in the second year, the student may take first-year exams that were not recognized or for which credit recognition was not requested starting from the first exam session (October midterms).
Exams that were only partially recognized, instead, can be completed only during the first available general exam session and not during the midterm exams.
As a second-year student, they will not have direct access to first-year materials or classes.
To access the platform, consult materials, and register for first-year exams, the student must submit an explicit request to the department responsible for each course through the B in Touch tool— but only after signing the Delibera.
The same rule applies in case of enrollment in the third year.
Master of Science programs
For students admitted to a Master of Science Program the maximum number of credits that may be recognized is 30 credits and enrollment is always in the first year of the program.
Specialized Master programs
Bocconi Specialized Master graduates are admitted to the first year of the Master of Science Program and a maximum of 2 courses (no more than 16 credits) may be recognized.
Graduates of Specialized Master programs from other universities may admitted to the first year of a Master of Science program upon verification of admission requirements, and credits earned in the previous program will not be recognized
Transfer without credit recognition a.y. 2026-27
Starting from the 2026/27 admission cycle, students enrolled in another university who take part in the standard selection sessions (Early, Winter, and Spring Regular) declare that they are participating without requesting recognition of previously earned credits.
Therefore, under no circumstances — not even during the enrollment process or after the course has started — will it be possible to request credit recognition.
