A Summer to Explore Europe

, by Fabio Todesco
Economics of European Integration is one of the topics at Bocconi Summer School (from 6 to 24 July), the program open to 120 Bachelor students from all over the world

European students with a strong interest in international economics and management, who want to understand how European integration and the regulations that govern the Union affect companies' strategy and development, as well as non-European students who want to understand how the largest market in the world works. These are the young people who will spend three weeks of their summer in Milan (6-24 July) for the course in Economics of European Integration, one of the four offered by Bocconi Summer School.

The Summer School, that attributes 6 college credits to participants, is reserved to 120 Bachelor students from all over the world, divided into classrooms of 30 participants according to their chosen topic. The other topics are Sport Management, Luxury Management and Private Equity and Venture Capital.

"Opportunities given by the European market and the rules that govern it will be the core of the program," says Carlo Altomonte, Director of the course. "In detail, from a macroeconomic point of view, we will explore how Europe can boost economic recovery in part thanks to integration, while from a managerial point of view we will analyze how companies are experiencing the integration process, with its opportunities and its risks."

An integral part of the program is represented by company visits to an important manufacturer such as Italcementi ("a global player in an energy-intensive industry, deeply affected by environmental regulation," Altomonte says), a financial player such as Barclays ("banking regulation and the opportunities provided by quantitative easing will be discussed") and an institution such as Milan's Representation Office of the European Commission in Italy.

The program will be rounded out with a recreational part, with visits to the most important places in Milan and an entire day dedicated to EXPO pavilions. Registration for the Summer School will close on 4 May.
