Dean's List: The merit also comes from social commitment
It is not enough to excel in courses and exams. At Bocconi, merit also means giving something back to the community - dedicating time and skills to those who need it most. It was in this spirit that on October 6, Bocconi celebrated the 23 students included in the Dean's List for Social Impact Recognition 2024-2025, who were awarded for their extraordinary commitment to volunteer work and social responsibility.
Their paths speak to a university that is increasingly focused on the integral formation of the person. Some have tutored children with learning difficulties in after-school programs, others have helped refugees find employment, while others have offered support to elderly people living alone or organized fundraisers for hospitals and research centers. A mosaic of different stories, but united by the same conviction: studying matters more if it can produce value for society.
“The goal is not only to train excellent professionals, but also people who are aware of their responsibility to society. Volunteer activities are an integral part of Bocconi's educational project: they teach students to collaborate, to care for different communities, and to tackle concrete problems with a critical spirit and the ability to take action,” emphasizes Carlo Salvato, Dean of the Graduate School.
The Dean's List was created as part of the Bocconi Social Impact Recognition program, which awards certificates to all students who document their volunteer experiences, but reserves a place of honor on the list only for those who demonstrate exceptional dedication. Of the nearly 100 open badges awarded this year, only 23 students reached this peak. Each of them dedicated over 100 hours to volunteering, and many far exceeded this threshold.
The ceremony concluded with the announcement of the new call for applications for 2025-2026, which will offer a new generation of students the opportunity to apply and have their commitment to the community recognized.
