SDA Bocconi Joins "Women on Board Initiative"

SDA Bocconi School of Management is joining other business schools, leading female board members and the EU Commission in "The European Business Schools / Women on Board Initiative", a group aimed at finding concrete ways to shatter the glass ceiling for women in Europe's corporate boardrooms, as suggested by European Commission Vice President Viviane Reding.

The group first met on 26 September 2011, and on 5 December issued a call for action which identifies specific actions for business schools to take in order to promote female leadership in the European corporate world.

Alberto Grando, SDA Bocconi's Dean, wrote a letter to Vice President Reding expressing his pleasure in answering the call for action and in joining the schools and associations already partners of the project. Paola Profeta, the professor appointed in charge of relations with "The European Business Schools / Women on Board Initiative", personally delivered the letter to Vice President Reding.

On 7 March 2012, as a first result of its work, "The European Business Schools / Women on Board Initiative" published a list of more than 3,500 board ready women identified by the group members.

A description of SDA Bocconi's Observatory on Diversity Management is part of Dean Grando's letter to Vice President Reding. Its activities include the identification of ready-for-board women in cooperation with the Professional Women's Association of Milan.
