Helpman Joins IGIER's Governing Council

The Harvard scholar has been appointed by the National Bureau of Economic Research

Harvard University's Elhanan Helpman has joined the governing council of Bocconi University's Innocenzo Gasparini Institute for Economic Research (IGIER), as a member appointed by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).

Being IGIER a joint initiative by Bocconi, NBER and the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), its governing council is made up of six members, two appointed by the University, two by NBER and two by CEPR plus a president and a director.

Its current composition is as follows: Carlo Favero, president; Maristella Botticini, director; Jordi Galì, appointed by CEPR; Elhanan Helpman, appointed by NBER; Franco Peracchi, appointed by Bocconi; Roberto Perotti, appointed by Bocconi; Richard Portes, president of CEPR; James Poterba, president of NBER.

Helpman is the Galen L. Stone Professor of International Trade, Harvard University, and emeritus professor at Tel Aviv University, where he has been teaching for 30 years.
