Fracchia and Occhiena, Bocconi's gaze on Argentina
Fabrizio Fracchia of the Department of Law is the Italian organizer of the sixth edition of the Jornadas Italo-Argentinas de Derecho Administrativo (Salón San Martín de la Legislatura de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, April 18 and 19, 2011).
Devised by the Asociación Italo Argentina de Profesores de Derecho Administrativo and the Asociación de Derecho Administrativo de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires and organized, for the Argentinian part, by Carlos Botassi of Universidad Nacional de La Plata, the Jornadas are devoted to discussing the judicial review in the two legal systems and can boast of a remarkable flow of Italian scholars (17 from 15 universities), which vouches the organizational success.
"The Jornadas give us an important chance to compare and discuss with administrative law scholars studying a legal system which presents both analogies and differenceswith respect to ours. In a comparative perspective, it will allow to better define theoretical and practical aspects", Fracchia says.
Fracchia, whose speech will regard class actions against public administrations, won't be the only Bocconi representative; Massimo Occhiena too will deliver a speech about appeals in the judicial review. The two scholars are among the founders of the Asociación Italo Argentina de Profesores de Derecho Administrativo, an association leading a scientific project which has produced the publication of the proceedings of the past Jornadas, continuous scientific exchanges and interesting works comparing Italian and Spanish-language legal systems. Last year Botassi and Fracchia edited a book regarding interim measure in judicial reviews, while a second book about public administration tort liability in Italy, Spain, Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, Brazil, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Venezuela is forthcoming. The Hispanic and Latin world is an interesting field of study, which Occhiena and Fracchia constantly observe, persuaded as they are that comparative law can't neglect this important cultural and legal area.
