Bocconi Postdoc Honored by the Institute of Mathematical Statistics
Yichen Zhu, a postdoctoral researcher at Bocconi University's BIDSA research center, has been honored with the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS) New Researcher Travel Award. This prestigious award supports early-career statisticians in presenting their research at major IMS conferences.
Yichen Zhu earned his PhD in Statistical Science from Duke University in May 2023, under the mentorship of David B. Dunson. His current research at Bocconi, guided by Botond Szabó, focuses on Bayesian nonparametric theory and methods, with a special emphasis on Gaussian process-based models.
The IMS New Researcher Travel Award recognizes Yichen Zhu's significant contributions to the field and provides him with the opportunity to share his work with the broader statistical community at upcoming IMS meetings. He is the only researcher from an EU university receiving the grant this year.
The IMS New Researcher Travel Award funds travel expenses to present a paper or a poster at an IMS-sponsored or co-sponsored meeting. The travel awards are available to IMS members who were awarded a PhD within the 5 years immediately preceding the year of application.
