Bocconi to Host the Winner of the Hones International Piano Competition 2015

Luca Buratto, a 23yearold Milan native, is the awardwinning pianist who will perform Bach, Beethoven and Schumann in the Via Gobbi Aula Magna on 25 February at 9pm

Luca Buratto, winner of the Honens Prize Laureate at the Honens International Piano Competition (Calgary-Canada), the largest piano award in the world, will perform in concert on Thursday 25 February in the Via Gobbi Aula Magna at 9pm.

The two-part program will include Joann Sebastian Bach's "Capriccio on the departure of a beloved brother" BWV 992, Ludwig van Beethoven's Sonata Op. 57 "Appassionata" and, to close, Robert Schumann's "Davidsbündlertänze" Op. 6.

The concert is one of the piano concerts organized by the Student Affairs Division – ISU Bocconi, in collaboration with Furch Pianoforti and, for the occasion, the Davide Cabassi Piano School and a collaboration with "Primavera di Baggio".

A 23-year-old Milan native, Luca Buratto studied at the Conservatory of Milan in the Edda Ponti class, where he graduated cum laude and with honors in June 2010. He also completed a second level academic degree. He made his debut in 2003 on Holocaust Remembrance Day, in the Sala Verdi at the Conservatory of Milan, performing music by Renzo Massarani, his great grandfather. In 2012, he placed third at the 16th International Schumann Competition in Zwickau, and was awarded the MDR-Figaro radio People's Choice Award. In the LaVerdi Symphonic Orchestra's 2013-2014 season, conducted by Jader Bignamini, Luca played Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3, Op. 30 at the Auditorium di Milano. His performances during the competition that led to his winning the Honens Prize Laureate dell'Honens International Piano Competition (Calgary-Canada), were defined as full of "fiery imagination and finesse" (Musical America).

In the 2016-2017 season, he will debut at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Wigmore Hall in London, Carnegie Hall in New York, and he will be resident artist at the Marlboro Music Festival (Vermont).

Admission is free but seats are limited.

The next piano concert, on Thursday 17 March, at 9pm, will be performed by Alberto Chines.
