Passion and commitment, Filippo's ingredients in the pool and in life

equot;Swimming has taught me the values of sacrifice, to be constant and determined: the same values that I apply to life and to studyequot;

Franceschi is a famous surname in the world of swimming, that of Long John (Giovanni Franceschi, 1963, winner of two European golds and a world bronze), but also of Filippo, his son, a boy that has come to Milan from Empoli, to attend the first year of Economics in Bocconi.

For sure Filippo has "good heritage" but it's also true that from his first months of life he fraternized with water: "I started a neonatal course and when he was a child started my first style lessons". After that there was growth always in the same team in Empoli - becoming more and more an expert in breaststroke until he become champion in the juniors category for 50 and 100 metres.

These kind of results are conquered thanks to passion and to a great perseverance, with intensive and daily training in the pool and with gym exercises three times a week. Filippo has also a particular diet.

Swimming is for Filippo a moment to unplug from routine and his studies and swimming also helps Filippo to relax, and so, when he came in Milan he decided to continue to swim in the Geas team (Sesto san Giovanni), a serene place that is also competitive, where every day Filippo gets to practice and have fun. At the same time Filippo and his coach have decided on some short-term targets which reveal the determination of young Franceschi: the target for this year is to win junior championship and reach to the final at overall level, ie. with swimmers of different ages. In 2015, instead, the challenge is to be a participant of the University Championships, as a student.

Obtaining results is an important ingredients to feed passion: "Swimming is a "pure" competition in which if you win, you win by yourself, of course also thanks to the coach and the staff, but you are the one that touches first, and a millisecond makes the difference, it's a personal satisfaction. There isn't the concept of team as a group, with whom to share the performance, but is good to know how strong you are individually".

Swimming, for Filippo, was and still is today a happy mix of sport, relax, determination and perseverance - sport like a way of life and not like a job. For this reason he decided to transfer in Milan and attend Bocconi university: " The best years for a swimmer are between twenty and twenty-six, after which, with the exception of rare cases, nobody can live as a swimmer. For this reason I wanted to come to Milan and continue my studies in Bocconi, to improve my education and have more work opportunities later. However important swimming is, today may priority is to study".
