In addition to returning as President of the Bocconi University Board, he will also come back to his position as board member of the Istituto Javotte Bocconi

Università Bocconi is pleased to announce that lifetime Senator Prof. Mario Monti has returned to his position as President of the Bocconi University Board as of 15 June, thus ending the period of suspension he requested in November 2011 after being named President of the Italian Council of Ministers.

The duties of the President of Bocconi have been performed by Vice President Prof. Luigi Guatri during Prof. Monti's absence.

"I am very grateful to Prof. Guatri for accepting this burden and for leading Bocconi with authority and effectiveness in this period", declared President Monti. "In November 2011, as I left the University to assume leadership of the government at a particularly difficult time for Italy and for Europe, I stated that I didn't consider my commitment to Bocconi concluded. I said I would return to serve out the term assigned to me and the whole Univerisity Board until 31 October 2014, as soon as circumstances permitted. I am happy to be able to realize that plan, and I intend to contribute – along with Vice President Prof. Luigi Guatri, Rector Andrea Sironi and CEO Bruno Pavesi - in guiding Bocconi toward further accomplishments in Italy and internationally to the benefit of the country's competitiveness and credibility around the world".

With the end of his suspension, Prof. Mario Monti will also resume his role as board member of the Istituto Javotte Bocconi Manca di Villahermosa - Friends of Bocconi Association.
