How Law Addresses Climate Change
"The investigation of the diverse legislative attempts to address and solve the climate change problem allow for a moderate optimism", Fabrizio Fracchia and Massimo Occhiena summarize in the introduction to Climate Change: La Risposta del Diritto (Editoriale Scientifica, 610 pages, € 47), the book they have edited at the end of a four-year research project which the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research dubbed "of national interest" and consequently funded.
The ad hoc rules developed to address the problem show a double awareness: on the one hand man, as an attacker of the environment, has to reduce its impact; on the other man, as victim of an attack, has to defend himself by adapting his lifestyle.
The book is a collection of 32 articles by 36 scholars from Europe and Americas, written in one of three languages: English, Spanish and Italian.
