The Cultural Soul of the Main
It was started fifteen years ago and today it can rely on the efforts of more than eighty alumni. It is the Frankfurt Chapter of the Bocconi Alumni Association (BAA), which has been for a year now headed by Davide Lunghi, Director of Operations at the Watch & Jewelry Division of LVMH for all of Continental Europe.
The chapter's activities can be divided into three areas: culture, social networking, professional education. Regarding the latter front, on November 7 Simon Boell, career coach and head hunter, delivered a talk on the best techniques to improve one's profile on the job market. "Next year," Davide Lunghi adds, "we would like to start a series of meetings on continuous education, with the aim of valorizing the talents of our members".
But the Frankfurt Chapter is especially active on the front of cultural relations, by working with Italian institutions in Germany's financial capital, such as the Consulate, the Italian National Agency for Tourism (ENIT), and the Italian Cultural Institute. Jointly with them, BAA Frankfurt jointly organized a roundtable last July, in order to deepen the collaboration between the various actors and souls of Italianhood on the Main river.
At the Italian Cultural Institute, "the Chapter has also presented Nel caso non ci rivedessimo: Una famiglia tra deportazione e salvezza 1938-1945 [Should We Never See Each Other Again: A family between deportation and salvation, 1938-1945]. The book, written by Bocconi Professor Giorgio Sacerdoti, is a poignant family memoir".
Basically, the Frankfurt group organizes two events per month. One is typically held in the evening and features an expert speaker on a topic of interest; the other, which Davide Lunghi and his colleagues call "the downtown lunch", is a way of nurturing relations, planning for the Chapter's activities, and enlarge the local BAA's network of contacts.
