With the Bocconi Art Gallery the University Displays its Permanent Collection
Not just a Mecca for economics, but also a true place to promote art: with 69 works of art by 33 international artists displayed on campus, Università Bocconi has created an intense bond with the contemporary art world. The Bocconi Art Gallery (BAG) was created using this dialogue as a starting point. This cultural project will be presented Wednesday 16 December at 6pm at a large affair open to the public which will include artists, art dealers and those who are simply curious, during which guests can visit all the pieces on display and talk with some of the artists that created them. Then, starting at 9pm, the event will continue with a concert by the Civica Jazz Band led by maestro Enrico Intra and with trumpet player Enrico Rava as a special guest.
The presentation of the Bocconi Art Gallery will begin at 6pm with guided tours of the works on display at the University (the last tour will begin at 8pm, but visitors can continue self-guided visits until 11pm), organized in collaboration with AIM, the Metropolitan Interests Association. During the tours, visitors will learn about the origins of the works not only from guides but also first-hand from the artists themselves: in addition to master artist Arnaldo Pomodoro, other artists attending inlcude Christiane Beer, Renata Boero, Sonia Costantini, Arthur Duff, Sergio Fermariello, Giorgio Griffa, Herbert Hamak, Franco Mazzucchelli, Maurizio Nannucci, Giuseppe Spagnulo and Mauro Staccioli.
Later, it will be music's turn to shine with a concert in Via Roentgen's Aula Magna. Starting at 9pm, "American and Italian Jazz Graffiti," will be performed by the Civica Jazz Band, led by Enrico Intra and with the special participation of Enrico Nava, celebrating 60 years of Furcht Pianoforti.
Bocconi continues to pursue its goal of having a constant dialogue with the city, choosing to do so not only in economic terms but also by taking advantage of artistic symbols, especially those found in contemporary art. The university thrives on exchanges with the city that go beyond the most advanced academic issues, and with the Bocconi Art Gallery, a time in which to exchange ideas and opinions about avant-guarde art is made possible. The art gallery has transformed Bocconi into a permanent art gallery for Milan.
The contemporary works of art on display at Bocconi which are not on loan by the artists themselves, were donated for use by: Antonio Marcegaglia; Associazione "Contemporanea"; Ettore Buganza; Collezione Panza; Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro; Galleria Fumagalli; Galleria Galica; Galleria Christian Stein, Studio la Città.
