Bocconi Alumni in Brussels

, by Andrea Celauro, translated by Alex Foti
Paolo Senes, BAA Chapter Leader in Belgium's capital, describes the special relationship between Bocconians and European institutions

Three years ago Gabriele Giudice was interviewed about Bocconi alumni in the Belgian metropolis where the destiny (and tragedy, editor's note) of Europe is played out every day. In Brussels, BAA has traditionally focused on EU institutions and careers. Now it's been two years since a new Chapter Leader, Paolo Senes, entrepreneur, CEO of Optimize Group and Chairman di MTS Associated (a Belgian financial company) first headed the group of alumni, now aided by Chiara Landolfo.

"We have a strong institutional outlook and this is reflected by our events. For instance, on January 26, we had a meeting on growth, EU investment policies, and the circular economy." In its activities, the Chapter is helped by several alumni groups existing in the various universities around the city. Thanks to the work of another alumnus, Alessio Aresu, the local BAA team is part of the Ryder's Club, an elite group joining the alumni of major international universities and business schools including Boston University, Columbia University, Cornell University, INSEAD, Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern) and MIT Sloan School of Management, in order to promote transnational events and networking.

The Chapter is also very attentive to reach out to those who intend to come to Milan to study business, economics, law, politics. On February 24, the BAA Chapter took part in 'Bocconi meets Brussels', the initiative where the University presents its degree programs to prospective students and has distinguished alumni speak about their professional experiences. Senes concludes by remarking that Brussels has been traditionally characterized by strong demand for professional labor, but competition is usually fierce because the capital of the EU has attracted talent from all over Europe and standards are high.
