Vis Moot, a Competition That Will Head to Vienna
A competition that gathers the best Law Schools in the world, an international jury of experts, a legal problem to solve: we are talking about the Willem C. VIS International Commercial Arbitration Moot, which is held every year in Vienna. Applications for the 2016 edition have just opened and all students in their 4th year of the CLMG (the Integrated Master of Arts in Law) are eligible to participate. Until 1 February 2015, they can send an email to competitions@unibocconi.it with a one-page motivational letter in English, a Curriculum Vitae in English, English international certificates (if available), Legal English certification (if acquired) and a digital photograph. This is just the first step, which may then lead students to discuss their case in Vienna, between March and April 2016, at an international competition in which participants will include Columbia University of New York, Yale Law School, London School of Economics and the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po).
up to eight students will be selected from this first phase. Only students enrolled in their 4th year and who have registered 100% of the credits of the 1st year study plan have the academic requirements to participate. Having passed the exams of "Diritto processuale civile" and having relevant professional experiences are the preferential terms. Qualifications and academic and/or working records will also be taken into consideration during the selection phase, in which interviews will also take place (in February 2015).
Once they are selected, the students have to submit a "Memorandum for claimant" by December 2015 and a "Memorandum for respondent" by January 2016. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) will judge the proofs of the participants.
