Dear Bocconians, As you know, our University was recently the victim of an unexpected and incomprehensible act of violence. The episode, which struck more in our hearts than in reality, pushes us to reflect on the importance of our mission: to help young people establish a future for themselves, build up knowledge, spread ideas and values in a free, open, pluralistic and multicultural society. Each day our campus is frequented by several thousand people who come from all over the world and who meet here to study, work, do research and grow, above all, as conscious and responsible citizens. That is what also happened yesterday, and what is happening today. No activity in which we were involved was stopped or was run differently from usual. Bocconi, actually, yesterday enjoyed a moment of maximum openness and participation with respect to the city. With the opening of the Bocconi Art Gallery project, our University in a few hours welcomed over 3,000 people who spent an evening with us, in the greatest tranquility.

Bocconi is, and will continue to be, a peaceful place of dialogue and exchange, which firmly refuses closed-mindedness and where we can feel free to interact serenely. It will be so also in the future. The security of our University is not in question. Even in this matter, as in all those that regard us, the University is continuously committed to improving and updating itself.
