The European Dream Is Not Over

The appointment with Europeans, Bocconi University's initiative with Fondazione Achille and Giulia Boroli aimed at raising awareness among young people, is back. Enrico Letta will be the keynote speaker on 8 May

The European dream is not over yet, but 60 years after the signing of the Treaties of Rome, it's living a difficult time. The most affected by the crisis of identity and values ​​that is hitting Europe are the young, the cosmopolitan generation, grown up without borders, polyglot and used to international exchanges. It is addressed mainly to them the Europeans initiative, by Bocconi University and Fondazione Achille and Giulia Boroli: three meetings a year (a thematic seminar, a scholarly one and a final conference) to raise awareness among young people on the open issues of the European Union, foster academic debate and disseminate its results to the general public.

The State of Europeans, a book which presents an updated photograph of key European policies and tools for their implementation (in Italian) will be freely available online from 8 May. Edited by Lorenzo Cuocolo (University of Genoa and Bocconi) and with a preface by Mario Monti, the book contains contributions by four young Bocconi scholars (Marco Bassini, Francesco Gallarati, Valerio Lubello and Luigi Testa) who discuss institutional reforms, the single market, monetary union, social policies, foreign and defense policy, immigration, transport, environment, energy, consumer protection, youth and digital policies.

Every year, the dissertation of a recent graduate, or an original research work of a student, regarding the European Union is awarded. The award will be delivered on 8 May, at the annual Europeans conference, The European Dream Is Not Over, by Marcella Balestrini Boroli, Vice President of the Fondazione.

Keynote speaker of the event will be Enrico Letta, Dean of Paris School of International Affairs at Sciences Po. Bocconi's Rector, Gianmario Verona, President Mario Monti, CEO Bruno Pavesi, and Lorenzo Cuocolo, the Coordinator of the Europeans initiative, will also participate.
