Bocconi #StartupDay 2016, a Focus on Entrepreneurship and Startups
They have been selected and trained and now, on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 22, they will have their big chance. Forty-two startuppers linked to Bocconi (students or alumni, hosted by the Speed MI Up incubator or participating in the iCrios Startup Training program) will go hunting for funding, presenting their pitches to forty investors during the Bocconi #StartupDay Marketplace (Aula Magna, via Roentgen 1).
Eleven other startup entrepreneurs who have already achieved promising results, but are still in the initial stage of their business, were included in the shortlist of the Bocconi #StartupDay Award. In the morning, they will discover who the winners are in the categories of best startup, social innovation startup, and Millennial startup.
Organized in partnership with Citi Foundation, this second edition of Bocconi #StartupDay includes a conference, the prizegiving ceremony and the Marketplace. It aims to study and promote innovative companies who are entering the market, and reward those that are already seeing encouraging results. The process, which began last April, also included a training program for the 42 Bocconi startups admitted to the Marketplace. This culminated a few days ago in a simulation of their presentation in front of professional investors, who clarified the essential components of a pitch aimed at raising finance for a startup.
The morning will begin with a public meeting, which will see Diego Piacentini, the Government Commissioner for the Digital Agenda , as keynote speaker, with a speech titled A startup at Palazzo Chigi. Carlo Mammola, CEO of Fondo Italiano di Investimento, will explain the mission of the fund, promoted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Giorgio Pautrie, Alberto Piras, Luca Ravagnan and Lorenzo Polentes, four of the entrepreneurs present last year, will tell how their stories have gone forward.
At the end of the round table, at 12am, the prizegiving ceremony of the second Bocconi #StartupDay Award will take place. The 11 finalists, selected by an international jury compete in three different categories.
• Best startup: Archon, BeMyEye, Credimi, Greenrail, Xnext.
• Social Innovation Startup: D-Heart, MyFoody, NiuRion.
• Millennial Startup: Easyfeel, Kopjra, ProntoPro.
The competing startups there is a place in a SDA Bocconi Master program for a member of the entrepreneurial team and cash prizes totaling €35,000.
In the afternoon, finally, there will be Marketplace for 42 selected startups. Among the investors that will be present: 360 Capital Partners, Angels for Innovation, Ban-Up, Berrier Capital Partners, Breed Reply, Cap-M, Equinvest, Italian Angels for Growth, Focus Futuro, Innogest, Intesa Sanpaolo, Key Capital, Siamo soci, Solar Venture, Unicredit, United Ventures, Wylab. Many angel investors and general partners of private equity firms will also be present on a personal basis.
