The Campus's new wayfinding system, developed in collaboration with FUD by Lombardini22, receives the prestigious international design award. A project that puts accessibility, inclusion, and the University's identity at its heart

A campus that is increasingly accessible, welcoming, and responsive to the needs of those who use it every day. This is the vision behind Bocconi University's new wayfinding system, which has won a Red Dot Award 2026, one of the world's leading international design awards. The award ceremony will take place in Berlin on November 6.

Developed in close collaboration with FUD, a Lombardini22 brand specializing in Communication and Brand Design, the project reimagines the Campus's signage and wayfinding system with an ambition that goes beyond simply indicating routes and destinations: making university spaces easier to navigate and recognize, while strengthening the sense of belonging to the Bocconi community.

The initiative is part of the University's broader vision, which places diversity, equal opportunities, and inclusion among its core commitments, in line with the objectives of its 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.

The challenge is particularly significant for Bocconi, whose Campus is not a closed, isolated space but an urban campus made up of buildings and open areas that are closely connected to the surrounding city and used every day by people with different needs. This called for the development of a consistent, intuitive, and inclusive wayfinding language, capable of guiding people as they move around the Campus while creating a sense of visual continuity across university spaces.

The new wayfinding system is the result of a joint effort by the University's teams and FUD, through a collaborative design process that translated the values and needs of the Bocconi community into practical solutions. The project covers the Campus's outdoor spaces and will continue with the design of signage inside the buildings.

The Red Dot Award therefore recognizes not only the quality of the design, but also a vision of the Campus in which physical spaces help create a more accessible, inclusive, and people-centered university experience. A place where even signage becomes an integral part of the University's identity and the way it welcomes its community.
