The Bocconi Art Gallery Reaches 100

The 2012 edition of BAG includes 100 works by Italian and International artists. On 5 June starting at 6pm, an open door evening will be held with guided tours, a lecture with sculptor Mauro Staccioli, meetings with artists and music by the Bermuda Acoustic Trio

Paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs. From Arnaldo Pomodoro to Jannis Kounellis, Emilio Isgrò to William Klein, Franco Mazzucchelli to Lawrence Carroll and Richard Long, there are a total of around 100 works of contemporary art by 42 Italian and international artists at the 2012 edition of the Bocconi Art Gallery. The project which aims to promote art is in its 3rd edition, and on 5 June an evening has been planned that is open to the public focusing on art and music, involving the entire campus. There will be guided tours of the art on display, a conversation on sculpture with artist Mauro Staccioli and art critic Alberto Fiz, in addition to a concert by the Bermuda Acoustic Trio. Participating will be gallery owners, collectors and art experts, as well as several of the artists who created the works hosted at Bocconi.

This year there are 42 artists displaying works and several of them will attend the inauguration of the 2012 edition of BAG on 5 June: Maddalena Ambrosio, Arcangelo, Carlo Bernardini, Marco Casentini, Gianluigi Colin, Alberto Di Fabio, Chiara Dynys,Domenico D'Oora, Arthur Duff, Emilio Isgrò, Antonio Marra, Franco Mazzucchelli, Elena Modorati, Brigitte Niedermair, Pino Pinelli, Giuseppe Spagnulo, Mauro Staccioli e Anna Maria Tulli.

The event within the event this year is the display of 100 sogni morti sul lavoro, a work thatFriuli artist Gianfranco Angelico Benvenuto created to commemorate workplace deaths, promoted by the City of Milan. The piece will be at Bocconi until 23 June.

There is a full program for the evening: the doors and hallways at Bocconi will open at 6pm for tours. The public can see the works on display in the rooms and hallways alone of the University until 11pm or take advantage of the guides from the Metropolitan Interests Association who will be available for free tours from 6:30pm to 9:30pm every 20 minutes.

At 7:30pm, Mauro Staccioli will hold a lecture on "Thinking About Sculpture". There are two metal works of art by the Tuscan artist at Bocconi. The art critic and artistic director of the Museum of Art in Catanzaro, Alberto Fiz, will also participate in the conversation.

Then, at 9pm, a concert will be held by the Bermuda Acoustic Trio, a trio with Giorgio Buttazzo (guitar and voice), Gabriele Monti (guitar and voice) Andrea Atto Alessi (electric bass, double bass and voice).

The Bocconi Art Gallery is initiative in which Università Bocconi demonstrates its awareness of the world of contemporary art. Created in 2009, BAG has welcomed dozens of artists and works of art to Bocconi, ranging from large installations made of iron or wood, to monochromatic painting, to photographs, all in a kaleidoscope of colors, sizes, and techniques.
