Bocconi and Jobs, the Job Market inside the University
The spring edition of Bocconi&Jobs, the career event to gather information and meet in person important employers in the Italian and international scene, is ready to start. Bocconi students and graduates will be able to apply and be interviewed for internships and job positions. The event, to be held on April 19 in via Roentgen from 10am to 5pm, will be attended by 82 employers belonging to the sectors of industry, commerce, energy, telecommunications, finance, consulting and accounting. There will also be a job market entirely dedicated to law and tax firms, which will be about 40.
"Bocconi&Jobs is an important showcase for firms, an opportunity to introduce company culture by relating face to face with students and alumni, to see if our offer meets their expectations and to recruit interesting profiles", explains Luisa Gatti, Group Employer Branding and Talent Acquisition at Unicredit. "It is useful for us to participate in Bocconi&Jobs also because we receive excellent applications: we always find skilled people with an international background", says Linda Langella, HR Leadership Development Specialist for Unilever. "Bocconians are open minded, they speak really good English and often also a third language. This is because the University offers them the opportunity to attend exchange and double degree programs abroad, a crucial aspect for a company like Unilever".
Bocconi&Jobs is only one of the recruiting activities organized by the Career Service, which in 2015 handled 9,571 internships and job offers of which 2,147 abroad (22.4%). Marco Sportelli, in his last year of Law, has just finished an internship at the American law firm White & Case, which then proposed him to start an apprenticeship as soon as he'll have graduated. "I found this opportunity during Bocconi&Jobs. I really appreciated the fact that there was an area dedicated to law and tax firms", he says. "Having so many law firms, companies or institutions at the same time is a great advantage: in one day you can do several interviews or simply browse through the desks, listen to the questions and get a sense of the qualities sought by the employer". Also Sara Mitterhofer, who graduated in International Management in 2013, found a job opportunity thanks to Bocconi&Jobs at Roland Berger, where she now works as a strategic consultant. "My experience has been different, I didn't attend the event to meet more than one company and having many interviews, I went there with a very clear goal: I knew that Roland Berger would have been there and I wanted to be part of their team and I succeeded", she says. "The advice I'd like to give to the participants, especially those who have a clear objective, is to go there well prepared because to come into direct contact with a company is an opportunity that does not happen every day".
