The Best Negotiators Are from Bocconi
Twelve teams of three members each, from all over the world, with a sole purpose: to negotiate with each other and then sign a contract. A jury established who had adopted the best strategy. That is what happened on April 24 to 26 in Poland, at the Warsaw School of Economics during the Warsaw Negotiation Competition, which ended with the triumph of team Bocconi in a heated final against American University's Washington College of Law.
Comprising the team from Università Bocconi were Alain Constantine and Andrea Bianchi, enrolled in International Management, and Karol Chilimoniuk, Warsaw School of Economics CEMS-Bocconi. "It was a very important learning experience," says Alain Constantine, "which allowed us to put into practice some of the concepts learned in the classroom, confronting colleagues coming not only from Europe, but also from the US, Canada, India and China ".
Observed by a jury of professionals and academics, the youngsters were given a case, which they read, defined a strategy and then began to negotiate: "The negotiations took place both in teams and individually", explains Alain, "the whole thing then concluded with the signing of a contract. " The final against the American team took place in the buildings of the Polish Senate and the award ceremony was presided over by Vice Marshal of the Polish Senate, Jan Wyrowiński.
