The Words to Say It. This Is How We Experienced Bocconi
Mamma Bocconi, this is how students and alums often refer to their Alma Mater colloquially. And, just like a good mom, in the memories of alumni the University is embracing but also demanding; she leads the family but is unsparing in pushing family members to prove their worth and show their better selves. How do you summarize the experience of a lifetime in a few words? Here is a very special list of ten alumni saying what Bocconi means to them.
BOCCONI IS:
Amicable: "Because it is not only about academic excellence but also a place where you can make friends and experience personal growth." (Anna Chiara Chisari, Class of 2015, Law)
A-Plus: "Because it's always a badge of distinction." (Tatiana Tallarico, Class of 2012, Management of Public Administration)
Attentive: "As a mom, Bocconi is always organized, provident and open to us, giving us the support and tools to grow and supervise us only when it is necessary to make us independent." (Eleonora Carminati, Class of 2015, Marketing Management).
Brilliant: "It teaches a reasoning method that makes you more effective." (Eros Tonelli, Class of 2006, Organization and Information Systems)
Challenging: "The first challenge you are facing is with you, the second is with your class mates, and the third is with the job market. And if you have the courage to lock yourself in the library instead of going to the disco, eventually you will win all the challenges thrown your way." (Donatella Di Gregorio, Class of 2016, Law)
Communal: "In Milan and abroad, I met friends with whom I shared hours of study, successes, ideas, doubts, many laughs and difficulties. If it were possible, I would back and live that again anytime." (Federica Dogliani, Class of 2016, Arts and Culture Management)
Competitive: "But in a healthy way, preparing you for the ruthless world out there made of countless meetings and tight deadlines. As a demanding mom, Bocconi strongly encourages you to give your best, challenging yourself first of all, then your peers." (Giuliamaria Amadei, Class of 2014, Management)
Dynamic: "It turns at full speed and fills your life with activity." (Eros Tonelli)
Exhilarating: "Bocconi makes you hungry about life.. It pushes to keep pace and arrive, in time, at the finish line." (Donatella Di Gregorio).
Family: "Some of your classmates become like siblings to whom you bond for life, even if you live and work thousands of kilometers apart." (Giuliamaria Amadei)
"Wherever you are in the world, you will always find another Bocconian. And it will feel like coming home." (Tatiana Tallarico)
Free: "To express your opinion, even if it goes against the grain, on social, economic and business issues." (Eros Tonelli)
Generous: "Is she receives devotion and dedication, like a true mother she will give her children all the possibilities in her power." (Eleonora Carminati)
Identity and Internationality, "because it is a sense of belonging to a core of values that drive students outside the environment and because it offers a great deal of international opportunities between exchange, campus abroad and English degree courses." (Anna Chiara Chisari)
Illuminating: "Because when you come from high school and you are like some special star, Mamma Bocconi takes you back to to Earth and shows you that you merely mortal the first exam you take." (Francesca Bianchi, Class of 2014, Management of Public Administration)
Interdisciplinary: "Bocconi enabled me to become lawyer, student, friend, translator, student ambassador, tutor, and.. beautifully anxious." (Donatella Di Gregorio)
Motivating: "It pushes you to do your best without getting emotional." (Maria Giovanna Scarale, Class of 2011, Economics and Social Sciences).
New Mother: "Because every single student is always like a first child to her." (Maria Giovanna Scarale).
Opportunity: "It may be obvious, but it's actually true: Bocconi takes you out of your comfort zone and gives you the opportunity of making new experiences: exchange programs, double degrees, internships. You must try everything. Without such opportunities, my University wouldn't be the same."(Federica Dogliani).
Pride: "Mamma Bocconi is proud of me, as I am proud of her, in many ways." (Giovanna Spiga, Class of 2016, Arts and Culture Management).
"Bocconi means being proud to be part of an institution that contributes significantly to the improvement of the community we live in" (Anna Chiara Chisari).
Qualifying: "By attending Bocconi, your professional profile becomes immediately prestigious" (Eros Tonelli).
Radiophonic: "To me, she has a middle name: Mamma Radio Bocconi" (Maria Giovanna Scarale).
Vivid: "Literally. Bocconi is a university full with life every day. You go to campus for classes, to study, attend workshops, but also to socialize, play sports, perform cultural activities and relax in Ravizza Park. Like a second home to me." (Francesca Bianchi).
Zeugmatic: "Just like the expression for a word that governs different aspirations." (Maria Giovanna Scarale)
