Valentino Larcinese, new Associate Professor for the Department of Policy Analysis and Public Management

A Visiting Professor from LSE since September 2012, the scholar now officially enters the Bocconi faculty

Former Visiting Professor Valentino Larcinese now officially enters the Department of Policy Analysis and Public Management as an Associate Professor.

He comes from London School of Economics, where he was Associate Professor in Public Policy and was the Director of the Government Department MSc programme. A member of the steering committee of the Suntory and Toyota International Centres for Economics and Related Disciplines (STICERD) at LSE, previously he was a Visiting Scholar at Università Tor Vergata di Roma (2008-2009), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2005-2006) and Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (2002).

Larcinese entered LSE in 2001: previously he had worked in the Research Department of the Bank of Italy. A graduate in Economic and Social Sciences from Università Bocconi, he has obtained a Master of Science from University of York, and two PhDs in Economics from Università degli Studi di Milano and LSE.

His research interests lie at the border between political economics and political science, ranging from the redistribution of wealth to taxation, from democratic control over public spending to the costs of politics, from mass media to higher education. Among the several grants he has received for his activity there are research grants from British Academy (2010), STICERD (2005, 2008, 2010), European Commission (1997, 2002, 2004) and ESRC (1996).
