Tudor, Bianca and Company: 19,000 euros for MSc Students
They swapped the position of Vice President during the BAA Christmas Party and, on that occasion, they decided that to support the University and its students with their (past and present) work was not enough. So Tudor Carstoiu, graduate of the Master of Science in Economics and Management of Innovation and Technology, and Bianca Maria Bettoli, 22, first-year student of the Master in International Management and current vp on campus, chose join the group of 89 alumni – including several of their peers – who during the party responded to call made by the association to give in support of the BAA Scholarship Fund. The Fund supports students enrolled in two-year graduate programs through partial relief from academic tuition (the scholarship covers 80% of the total).
At the end of the evening, with the help of those 89 donors €19,000 were collected, enough to fund one scholarship. "If it hadn't been for the scholarship that the University gave me, I would have never been able to study at Bocconi," says Tudor, who at the age of 20 came to via Sarfatti from Arad (Romania) to attend the Bachelor in International Economics, Management and Finance. The idea of giving back to others some of what you received yourself also resonates in Bianca's words. She officially introduced herself to the community of Bocconi alumni in that occasion. "It's just a small contribution", Ms Bettoli explains, "to share the fortune I have to study in a dream university." Fundraising for partial tuition remission for students admitted to MSc programs was done for the first time at the BAA Christmas Party of 2010, and it's on the way to become a tradition. Since then, thanks to the contributions of alumni and the association's operating surpluses, 12 BAA scholarships have been funded.
