Ten Years of the Master of Science in Management
Bocconi-educated managers, September 7 is your day! On that date, the MSc of Management will celebrate its 10th birthday. There will be a party organized by the Graduate School in collaboration with the Bocconi Alumni Association (BAA), which will see faculty and alumni get together not only to remember the good times, but also to talk about the issues managers have to contend with in this day and age. It's a call to party and celebrate, sent to a large community: more the 3,800 people have graduated from the two-year Bocconi Master of Science in Management, with employment rates a year after graduation attaining nearly 94% according to the latest data.
The celebrations, scheduled to start at 5:00pm in the Aula Magna of via Roentgen, will be opened by a plenary session drawing a balance sheet of the first decade of activity of this program training grad students: «Guido Corbetta and Carlo Salvato will tell the audience how the program was born and how it has developed over the last five years», says Gabriella Lojacono, Director of the graduate degree in management since 2010. Then there will be parallel sessions directly involving alumni on issues ranging from entrepreneurship to innovation, consulting, accounting, management control and corporate finance, business organization and HRM, marketing, internationalization, and sustainability.
To conclude, a big dinner party will be held, preceded by cocktails. This is a celebration that aims to be an occasion to think about ongoing changes in the nature of management. The Master of Science has itself changed over time: "Over the first few years the idea was to supply graduate students with an all-round view of the company and its functions, then we have moved toward a more focused approach, by introducing various specializations: Fashion & Luxury, SMEs, CSR, Corporate Finance", Lojacono explains. Two aspects that also emerge from the words of two alumni who graduated in 2010 and 2012, respectively. "Bocconi's graduate program in Management gave me a Bildung that has turned out be an asset when communicating with business professionals in my current job as manager of a head-hunting firm", says Ottavio Maria Campigli, referring to the variety of topics treated in class. Roberta Fornasieri, currently at Generali Investment, conversely underscores the fact that "although we delved deeply into the essential subjects of management, the program's scope for specialization makes graduates competitive on the job market."
