Teaching Award Goes to Leonardo Caporarello

Leonardo Caporarello, Associate Professor of Practice at SDA Bocconi School of Management, was given the "2017 Rotman School of Management Teaching Award" by the business school's student body. Caporarello teaches the course in Leadership and Negotiation a module of the Global Executive MBA at the Canadian business school, hosted by the SDA Bocconi Asia Center in Mumbai. He won this recognition for the value and effectiveness of his teaching.


"The news was communicated to me by the Dean of the Toronto-based management school", says Caporarello, "and naturally I was delighted. This recognition is the result of the ratings given by students in evaluation forms compiled at the end of the course, and the main reason for their positive assessment, as I found out by talking to some of them, lies in the methodology adopted." MBA classes are demanding and the days are long, so an innovative methodology rich in digital interaction proved to be the winning card.
"It is not the classic standup lecture", Caporarello explains, who is also Director of BUILT (Bocconi University Innovations in Learning and Teaching) at the University, "but a teaching method based on explanations immediately followed by practical demonstrations, so that the students are able to apply in real time what has just been taught to them." The academic thus concludes: "I believe that we must work harder on innovation in teaching and learning methodology because this is the factor that will make the difference."
