The first Sandra Slaughter Service Award granted by the Association for Information Systems at the 2015 ICIS Conference

Ferdinando Pennarola (Department of Management and Technology) is the recipient of the first Sandra Slaughter Service Award, the award established in 2014 by the Association for Information Systems and granted for the first time on 14 December 2015 at the yearly ICIS Conference in Fort Worth, Texas.

The award recognizes longstanding members who have provided leadership and service within the association, particularly through such activities as participating in Association's special interest groups, chapters, strengthening the conferences, and participating in AIS-sponsored journals. It honors Sandra Slaughter, who served as Region 1 Representative on the AIS Council until her death in 2014.

Prof. Pennarola chairs ItAIS, the AIS Italian chapter, which has recently hosted both the European and the global AIS conferences. These activities earned ItAIS the 2014 Outstanding Components Award, conferred to those chapters and special interest groups that distinguish themselves for the quantity and quality of initiatives and for their academic contribution to the association.
