Nel Dutt, an Engineer for the Department of Management and Technology

Born and raised in New Delhi, India, Nilanjana 'Nel' Dutt moved to the U.S. to complete a bachelor's degrees in Computer Sciences and Mathematics from Colby College, Maine. She continued her education by completing graduate degrees in Environmental Engineering and Engineering Management from Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, before returning to graduate school to start doctoral studies in Business Strategy at Duke University, North Carolina.

Her research dissertation, presented at multiple conferences, combines her engineering background with her business training to examine U.S. electric utility companies' strategic decision processes with regards to renewable electricity.

Her current research lies broadly in the realm of strategy with special emphasis on evolutionary theory, issues pertaining to environmental strategy and entrepreneurship in emerging markets. Her coauthored research has recently been accepted by Management Science and she serves on the editorial board of the Strategic Management Journal.
