More Than 4,000 Ideas to Improve the World Through Technology
Ferdinando Pennarola, a faculty member in the Department of Management and Technology at Università Bocconi, has been elected Representative of ICIS (International Conference on Information Systems) of the AIS, the leading international information systems association. It is a position that gives Pennarola the task of bringing the needs and dynamics that emerged during the year of his term to the attention of the board, at the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS). Scholars interested in the field of information systems can submit high quality research to the ICIS Representative, who will then gather all issues on the topic to be discussed during the meeting.
The 2013 conference was held in Milan, and Pennarola was named to organize the event. "I am proud to have been elected to an internal role at AIS, which is the most prestigious academic professional association in the world in the field of information systems." The Bocconi faculty member will be the only Italian person on the board this year, along with representatives of the most prestigious universities in the world in the area of technology and information systems. "Last year, for the December 2013 edition, I was called to organize the event here in Milan. This year, however, the conference will be held in Auckland, in New Zealand. It's a conference that invites over 1,000 professionals: academics from all over the world who present their research in IS and share their most recent and highest quality ideas. This year's conference theme is Building a Better World Through Information Systems, and during the year, my task will be to collect ideas and proposals from approximately 4,000 AIS members, outstanding faculty and professionals who work in universities from all over the world."
