London Calling for Bocconi Alumni

, by Andrea Celauro
On March 2021, the third Bocconi Alumni Global Conference will be held in London. To its panel, BAA has invited Joerg Asmussen, Vittorio Colao, Vittorio Grilli, Raffaele Jerusalmi and Neelie Kroes

This is the third global get-together for Bocconi Alumni: after Singapore in Asia, and New York in America, this year it will be London, Europe's financial capital, hosting the annual global meeting of the Bocconi Alumni Association (BAA).

The days of March 20 and March 21st will be devoted to intensive continuous learning, as alumni will discuss the future of the European economy in the panel "Europe at the crossroads: the responsibility to manage the future we all share" to be held at the Hilton of Park Lane in London. Bocconi President Mario Monti, Rector Andrea Sironi, and BAA President Pietro Guindani, together with major actors in global business and finance, will discuss the European predicament in five different sessions.

On Friday the 20th, the first session focuses on EU growth and the austerity vs. expansion dilemma, with Guido Tabellini, Bocconi Professor of Economics debating the issue with Joerg Asmussen, Bocconian of the Year 2013 and Secretary of State at the German Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, and with Agnès Bénassy-Quéré, President Delegate of France's Council of Economic Analysis. The subsequent session will see Nikhil Srinivasan (Group Chief Investment Officer at Generali), Vittorio Grilli (Chairman, EMEA J.P. Morgan), Raffaele Jerusalmi (Executive Director, Capital Markets, London Stock Exchange Group, and CEO, Borsa Italiana), and Douglas Flint (Chairman, HSBC) discuss the relationship between growth and finance.

Global competition and leadership for the future are the key issues of the second part of the panel. Vittorio Radice, CEO of La Rinascente, Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the European Commission, and Ann Cairns, President for International Markets at Mastercard will debate international competitiveness. The day will be concluded by Mario Monti discussing the future of the European Union, and by Vittorio Colao, CEO of Vodafone Group, who will focus on the role of leadership in the search for growth.

But the BAA Global Conference won't only be about continuous learning and social networking, with the Gala Dinner to be held at the Natural History Museum. The 2015 edition will in fact see the establishment of the Global Alumni Scholarship Fund: a share of the participation fees will go to the funding of scholarships each worth €35,000, destined to students graduating in the Bocconi Masters of Science in Finance and International management.
