The Global Conference Returns Home

, by Andrea Sironi - rettore dell'Universita' Bocconi
On 20 and 21 March, BAA's international event will be held in London. And, as Bocconi Rector Andrea Sironi reminds us, the chapter that is organizing it is the largest one outside Italy.

This year the Bocconi Alumni Global Conference is, in a sense, back home. After the 2013 edition in Singapore and 2014 event in New York, that of 2015 will be held here in Europe, in London, on 20 and 21 March.

I might even call London home, because for the Bocconi the European horizon is now considered the domestic horizon. France and Germany are among the countries most represented among the newly enrolled students at our University, and London employs the second-largest number of our graduates, after Milan. The London chapter of the Bocconi Alumni Association in fact has more members than any other foreign chapter.

Europe at the Crossroads: The Responsibility to Manage the Future We All Share, the topic of the conference, is a theme that can underline the value of belonging to the Bocconi community. It indicates openness in discussing the common good and shows that this exchange is possible starting from the various skills that studies at Bocconi can provide. The issue will be addressed by our eminent economist, Guido Tabellini, in addition to alumni with very different professional interests, both past and present. They range from managers such as Vittorio Colao and Diego Piacentini to men in the world of finance like Raffaele Jerusalmi and Vittorio Grilli - we cannot forget the public positions ha has held in the past - to Joerg Asmussen, currently German Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, who has an MBA from Bocconi.

The Conference is an golden opportunity to actively participate in the Alumni community and discuss the prospects of European development through an open and constructive debate, in the best tradition of our University.

See you in London!
