Entrepreneurs Abroad, Tell Us Your Stories
When the Earthmen, in Mars Attacks, make a dove fly towards the aliens and these, in response, blow up the bird and all that moves within a mile, the scientist played by Pierce Brosnan says that "there must have been a cultural misunderstanding ".
Cultural misunderstandings are just one of the risks faced by daredevils who decide to open a business abroad. And among them there are dozens of Bocconians - none of whom shared the fate of the dove, as far as we know.
Mikkel Draebye, SDA Bocconi Professor of strategy and entrepreneurship, explains in the video below (in Italian) the reasons that drive people to open a business abroad and the issues that the entrepreneurs may face.
And you? Are you an Italian Bocconian who opened a startup abroad or a foreign Bocconian who opened in Italy? Want to tell us why you've taken the challenge and what cultural misunderstandings did you face? Write to bocconistories@unibocconi.it and we will publish the most interesting stories.
