Bocconians of Water, Grass, Snow and Asphalt

, by Andrea Celauro, translated by Richard Greenslade
A variety of sporting events are on the calendar for Universita' Bocconi alumni. The BAA is expanding its efforts to involve as many graduates as possible in sports activities of several different types, on terra firma and offshore, in Italy and abroad

Water, grass, snow and asphalt: reworking the notion of the four elements, we can say that these are the main areas of BAA sports. "Involvement through sport is essential," emphasizes Fabrizio Cosi, BAA adviser delegate to the sector. " The passion for sports becomes the glue that makes relationships between alumni - already bound by a sense of belonging - even more stable ." To do so, Cosi and comrades have set two objectives: increasing synergy with the Bocconi Sport Team and the active involvement of alumni at the international level, despite the challenge of organizing in various disciplines.

We can start from our metaphorical element of water and the realm of sailing. Between March and April the group BAA hosted skipper Andrea Mura and organized a course for the sailing license within 12 miles of shore, while the Bocconi Sport Team will launch Bocconi Sailing Days on May 9-11, open to all.

Prato is synonymous with golf, and the Bocconi Alumni Golf Trophy is a carnation in its lapel. Round 1 was held on 27 April at the Castelconturbia Golf Club; Round 2 , scheduled for 27 September, will be held at Bergamo's Albenza Golf. In addition, under study is a challenge that will be played on multiple courses, in Italy and abroad. But grass (and clay) also means tennis: the last event was organized on the weekend of April 12 to 13 in Finale Ligure by the Torino Alumni area.

And if the snow season already closed in Madonna di Campiglio last March, activities on asphalt are still up and on the move. On two fronts: the cycling and running.

On the first front, there are tours from one to three days, through wine country with food specialties (the next is 25 May in Rome) . On the second front, running, the activities are numerous, especially for the future . In particular, there is a clear desire to " identify some international running events over distances of 10-21 kilometers, around which the world can join Bocconi. We think of cities like Dublin, Budapest, Paris, Geneva and London, participating in a series of events that will have as a grand finale the Milan Marathon in 2015, the year of the Expo . "
