AOM: the Best International Paper Award to Lega and Prenestini
Exploring the Relationship between Senior Management Team Culture and Clinical Governance in Italian Public Healthcare Organizations: the paper by Anna Prenestini and Federico Lega (Department of Policy Analysis and Public Management), written with Stefano Calciolari (Università della Svizzera Italiana) and Roberto Grilli (ARS Regione Emilia Romagna), obtained the Best International Paper Award of AOM's Healthcare Management Division.
The paper was presented in front of a commission led by Eric Ford (University of North Carolina Greensboro - UNCG) on the occasion of the Academy of Management Annual Meeting held in Boston (3rd- 7th August 2012). The research relies on a survey of a sample of 33 public healthcare organizations in Emilia-Romagna, Piedmont and Veneto in order to demonstrate the existence of a relationship between senior management team culture and clinical governance.
"The empiric demonstration", Lega explains, "resulted in the contribution being judged particularly innovative and strong from the point of view of the scientific method by the international committee members". For this reason the paper has also been selected among the 25 papers which compete for the Carolyn Dexter Award assigned to the Best International Paper of the whole AOM.
Federico Lega is the Director of the Master of Science in Public Management and International Organizations and Head of executive training for healthcare sector of SDA Bocconi. Anna Prenestini is CERGAS' Contracted Research Fellow and SDA Assistant Professor.
