Your Research Habits Matter: a CIVICA Survey to Shape the Future of Library Services
Whether writing an essay, preparing a presentation or researching a topic, information is at the heart of students’ work. But the way students find and use information is changing. With AI tools like ChatGPT and citation generators becoming more common, it’s important to understand how students are using these technologies and thus also help libraries provide effective services and resources.
With this is mind, the CIVICA alliance, of which Bocconi is a founding member, is launching a survey open to all students across the alliance to explore their information and research habits – and in particular: assess students' current information literacy competencies, including use of library resources; identify gaps, needs, and habits in students’ information practices – also identifying challenges related to fake news and misinformation; and evaluate students' awareness and responsible use of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, citation generators).
The objective is to then provide recommendations for libraries and educators across the alliance, offering guidance to improve library services and tools and also educational strategies.
Bocconi students are warmly invited to participate. The survey is now open, until November 22, and can be completed in English, Italian or French.
